The growing entitlement issues of the casuals

First things first, Casuals do not = hardcore players. Even Yoshi agrees.
I feel that it’s ideal that players decide on the play style.
So what's the deal? Why is it that casual players feel that they should have the same awesome gear that the hardcore players have? This is absolutely beyond me. The more effort you put into something the greater the reward.

I don't think anyone is trying to argue people with less time should get the same rewards. It's a matter on how the endgame system should be.

Correct. The rewards for participating in endgame should not discriminate between casual and hardcore players, period. That is probably the biggest complaint that casuals have: they don't get a lot of chances to get the "uber" gear because the hardcores tend to muscle them out of any chance at it.

And yeah, the MMO market is going after casuals more because they are a much larger cut of the demographics. The more people they can appeal to, the more revenue they earn. This is common sense in business - so if the hardcore crowd is going to complain, they're only going to hurt the game in the long term, fiscally speaking.

In a nut shell: A money inflow is important for MMOs to sustain themselves at a minimum, and if they exceed minimum requirements and achieve adequate profits, they will be able to produce more expansion content for the game. Therefore, the complaints of the hardcore will end up taking a backseat to the complaints of everybody else.

I am in no way arguing with you.... But.... "ENDGAME" should be striken from the MMO dictionary...

Well, to be fair they were promised a casual-friendly game that some may have translated as meaning they were going to have the same benefits as hardcore players. The game has also been on easy-mode since release and things just keep being put in to make it easier and casual-friendly so don't be shocked if they do in fact get everything hardcore players get. It'll likely eventually be as casual-friendly as WoW has been for a while now. Those are the type of players MMO's are after these days.

I certainly wouldn't expect to see any difficult to get relic weapons or rare drops (D-ring/ridill anyone?) in this game.

Please define hardcore and casual, cos i get the feeling that your thread is inspired by the recent NM discussion where everyone who was against 24 nm pop was flamed by a some camping fetish LS.

Casual=people who want to have the best gear in game but only have 1 hour to play a week/wish they had time to get skill
Hardcore=people who have a lot of free time so they actually earn the best gear in the game/are the most skilled

and that thread was more like the straw that broke the camel's back.

I researched and practiced for a week for this test and I got a C, but that person over there didn't study at all and they got an A, how unfair! I deserve the better grade because I was more hardcore about the test.

Grow up people. >.> It's a game and we're all playing the same game. Time = efficiency, if you're hardcore and put 10 hrs into a NM when a "casual" waltz's in and kills it in 1 hour, then in my personal opinion, the casual is the better player and should be rewarded accordingly. People need to step off their high horses.
