How does one pronounce "Peiste"?

Names that have been making me want to pull my hair out:
Peiste (thanks for the answer!!)
Shposhae.
H'rhanbolo. (But for this one, I've already decided in my mind how I pronounce her name in my head when I go do local there LQ)
Some NPC names which I can't recall right now.

I've given up on a lot of the NPC names, but Shposhae in Japanese is written シュポシェ which would be pronounced as shoo-poh-shay (without lengthening any of the vowel sounds).

If we take the Japanese pronunciation as the official way to say it -- ミコッテ would be pronounced mee-koh 'tay

Sorry I don't know how to write proper phonetic symbols...

But "mee" just sounds like the English word "me" (I wrote it that way to avoid pronouncing it like "may" as one might be inclined to do if they know how to romanize Japanese characters)

And there is a glottal stop between "koh" and "tay", as indicated by the (reverse) apostrophe when written as Miqo'te.

I've been wondering about peiste for a while. I've heard "paste" "pee-ist" "pyste" "pyse-tee" ... but "peace-tuh," huh? I never got far enough in the research to get to that one.

The first time I did some research on it, I thought I hit paydirt with the fact that there is a "peiste" in the Spanish language; however, that ended up being a form of the verb peer, which means to break wind ... which would make "pee-ay-stay" a good name for a dodo... but I digress.

LATER research led me to the gaelic term "pèist," which means reptile (same as Ferth up there), taken from the same Latin roots as the word "biast" (which led in turn to the English word "beast"). However, the modern Irish pronunciation of this word (which is now associated with worms) is something like "paysht."

If you combine all that, you'd end up with a few technical options that nonetheless sound extremely similar if you were to say them over Mumble or such... You've got "paysht" and "paysteh" ... "paste" if you're lazy.

Now I have to remember "peace-tuh" if that's what they say 'round the water cooler at SE. I need some Eorzean IPA.

Now if only we can force someone in a voiced cutscene to say "Thaw-muh-terj" we'll be all set. No more of this "thurm-uh-tahj" or this "thur-ma-mage" nonsense.

Also, if you can't get audio files up, I'll try to find a way to do it with fan resources
