Generally, there's a reason most people use certain pieces of gear, and I understand that it's not always simple to get the optimal pieces. I'd take along another player who was willing to learn who actually had worse gear, just because I know he wouldn't be so bullheaded. There's a time and place for showing how unique you are, and endgame content is not it.

I think it's fine how it is, honestly. It's not meant to be hardcore content. The drops and drop rate justify the difficulty level.

This. They even explain Skirmish is a training exercise for the Eorzean Alliance. I wouldn't expect a training exercise to be nearly as hard as, say, "The Raven, Nevermore". It's actually a great way to train a new endgame linkshell to work together because it's not especially difficult.

You're full of crap- I know all kinds of people who impose XYZ gear standard in order to join their runs- they don't care what you know about the game or how you handle your character. They assume what you know based on your gear. You can beat Garuda with everyone in AF- it's been done - but people insist that if you don't have the best gear, you must be bad.

I'd be more concerned if they really used the "wrong" gear in that they were putting on the wrong stats for their class (e.g. str/dex/vit on blm)

There is difference between skilled players with good gears but wearing AF gears to proof to ppl and players that only wear full AF gears and claims they are skilled.

There's also a difference between knowing how to gear yourself and actually posessing that gear to gear yourself with. Just because your gear isn't great doesn't mean you don't know what you need. It only means you don't have it yet.

In response to the parts in bold; do you realize how many people have Garuda's Scream and are not at the stat caps for it? Answer: most of them. It's not a contrived scenario. The fact is, most people don't know the inner workings of stats in this game and simply regurgitate what they've been told on the forums. I've shown you, both logically and mathmatically why some assumptions are incorrect. So, you're going to have to bring more than anger and disdain to prove me wrong.

It's an interesting topic, at least to me. Yeah stats are changing in 2.0, and we don't know how exactly. So you're right it won't matter, but it's still an interesting subject.
