I do not mind at this point.
I can only assume once the rush and panic of getting 2.0 out, tested and balanced then they will have a more flexible schedule in which to create brand new mobs/contents/bring mobs from earlier FF games in.

Uhm... most of the monsters you see "borrowed from XI" are actually in many FF games. They're pulling from the Final Fantasy bestiary, not the FFXI bestiary.i love FFXI, its my favorite FF game but can the development team please stop borrowing monsters designs directly from FFXI?
as it stands now from monsters design prospective FFXI lead by far.
which i dont mind for stuff like mandys and goblins because they are kinda FFXI mascots and FFXI Fenrir look is the best in the series.
but i see the trend continues with Admantoise and god knows what, FFXII had really cool design for admantoise , wyrms and much more.
i really hope to see more balance with monster design.

Which isn't a problem at all because XI's iteration is the latest version of many classic monsters..since if you noticed they all eventually evolve as they appear in newer games. Flayers looked very "feral" in IV compared to their IX version which looked more refined while FFXI was a throwback to the classic one.
As long as they take from other things too (and create some unique models) I have no problem with them sharing from XI.
I'll be a little pissed if they take things like soulflayers though, seeing as that doesn't make sense at all.
Most of the other mobs in XIV have been in multiple FF's, but they have the exact XI design. Kinda good, kinda bad.
Took a while for this thread to appear lol i was wondering...i don't mind mobs been borrowed but that was mostly Tanaka i think...And Yoshi-p can't just make them disappear atleast Yoshi-p states that everything will have a reason to be in the game ,will have lore and will make sense....Tanaka made Imps pop in low lvl leves outta no-where in the black shroud for example and their lore was tied to aht urgah in FFXI ..so it woulda made sense to make them appear in ul'dah leves only there's several mobs that are copy pasted from FFXI and even more that copied the names but now look different .hell even NM names have been re-used like Audhunbla it is a buffalo NM in FFXI and now in FFXIV too. But as others have said once Yoshi-P has a much smoother schedule after launch and the team has had a good rest we will see more flashy and unique stuff
My brother also pointed out that the Imperials uses the exact naming as the Anticans in XI did as well.
that one from ffxii dont match the games art at alli love FFXI, its my favorite FF game but can the development team please stop borrowing monsters designs directly from FFXI?

sooo using stuff from RL that was used in XI is okay...? In that case all mobs in XI is okay because most exist as legends or historical creatures of myth and legend? I'm lost o_o where is the line drawn?
"Thy life is a river to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"
