BG showed no hate when we dropped IfritX NA first.NA 2nd, world 5th or 6th-ish. hard to tell exactly, since JPs don't commonly post in the english forums. and we never made any excuses about that. we just didn't work as hard as other LSs to have our seal prereqs done before it was confirmed they would be used for relic. we started well behind the competition, and though we finished not too long after- we have nobody but ourselves to blame. took us roughly 16 hours of attempts over 4 days to down ifrit with our own strategy, before any actual guides were released, though, so i'd say that's pretty decent

They probably would of beat us to it if they were a bit quicker on the seals, but regardless they have been very helpful to the community either in laying out strats before others do or even just Carraway in his archer guide.
I don't really see a problem in taking pride in a speed run on the only really hard content left..

Ppl just mad nobody is carrying them through content.

I think all he's saying is that comments sometimes come off as arrogant to us plebs. It's like the way I feel about LeBron James: Yes, I know you're good, dude. But just shut the fuck up about it already. Is there a problem with taking pride in our accomplishments? Since Garuda, we've never hedged our bets on immediately releasing information, posting all over the forums, showing videos, etc., and with Legatus, we went all-out on "helping the community." Now we have a chance to relish the immense effort and dedication of our members, so fuck yeah, we're going to do that.
Anyway, it's one thing to say, 'We try our best to help the community.' It's quite another to say, 'We had the world-first X kill. What have you ever done?'
There are also cases of micro-aggressions, so to speak, in which one says something like, 'This is an easy encounter.' Such a comment might seem innocuous enough to you, but when there are countless numbers of us who are still struggling to beat the encounter, it comes off as a sort of slap in the face or a flaunting of unobtainable skill.
I respect what you guys do, and so do most people, probably. But try to look at it from our point of view. The commoners. The people still sporting GC gear. The people who don't have the time or the patience or the motivation to court the wiles of the RNG. 'Helping the community' and 'mercenary work' are incompatible ideas in many minds. So don't be surprised when we get a bit snippy. And getting defensive when we get snippy kind of exacerbates things. Just sayin'.
Anyway, keep on trucking, dudes.
Thanks alexhatesmil, you explained how I was trying to get what I was saying across haha.

wtf is RNG
Random Number Generator, A.K.A system that's used to determine how loot drops for everything in this game.

i'll provide the quote you're (falsely) referencing:
so nothing was ever said about world-anything. (that was addressed in a separate post, sure- but only after someone else brought it up as an intended attack) and as a result, it starts to look like all this is to serve as an excuse to justify a manufactured sense of outrage. and as far as the "what have you done" thing, it was already explained immediately thereafter that a lot of people try to attack us for being unhelpful elitist jerks when we actually seem to do a lion's share of the helping.
we have people *use our guides* and *copy our strats to the letter* only to directly turn around and call us names and accuse us of not helping.
don't you find that a little odd?
then i ask again- does the fact that we're doing mercenary work (in a completely separate thread, mind you) somehow erase any guides or videos or advice or tips we've ever freely handed out to the community? we don't have to do that, you know. and there really aren't many other people doing it. but since we sold some earrings now, that other stuff never happened?
it has nothing to do with getting defensive and everything to do with calling a spade a spade. yes, we merc'd earrings, however, yes... we've also helped the community a lot, regardless of who does or doesn't care to acknowledge it.
we're not offended. we don't have anything against you. we're not even really bothered. it just often gets to the point where it starts being extremely silly, and that's when we finally comment on it. in fact, we generally never even mention what we've done to help people. but when someone tries saying we've done nothing to help, and really don't have much of any basis for that accusation...
well, yeah. then sometimes we'll take a stand.
nobody needs to read our guides or watch our videos or post in our threads or send us tells asking for tips. nobody's being forced to do that. and we're not obligated to provide any of that or to answer questions. but we do. and even if nobody at all used our strats, we'd still do our best to publish them just in case. because a resource is a resource and believe it or not- we are trying to help build community resources for this game.
sometimes people say things the wrong way, or what they say comes off wrong. sometimes they'll say things that are outright rude. i've definitely done it before. so sure, sometimes people will get snippy. that's expected, and not really a problem. we've never expected to be liked by everyone. but, to me, it's just silly to use that as a way to convince oneself that we're actually not doing the community any good, and that we're only here to epeen out all over the place. we rarely even bring attention to ourselves.
this thread was intended to encourage a little friendly competition, to see how others are doing, to help with strats and answer questions, and for people to just generally share info about what we think is the most enjoyable fight in the game.
do we also have something to boast about? yeah, sure. but that doesn't mean that boasting exists in a vacuum and all the rest of the thread or anything else positive just disappears.
anyway, please excuse this verbose, meandering shitstorm of a post. just my 2c. ;3

Sigh. . . I guess you missed that I was being sympathetic to you guys. Defense, defense, defense.

Or they can't find 7 ppl willing to work to beat him...or procrastinated...or whatever. Which makes them hate those who can.
I am super-super super hoping my ls can beat him this weekend...I have my entire weekend planned around it...seriously. It took me until last Sunday to even convince them to try it. I pug it whenever I can. I have basically been whm soloing this/running it like I'm training for a marathon...my lala is ready. I will beat him....
But if I don't get him cleared...either because we run out of time before the save, or people give up, or we don't get our full event times in...I will know I did everything in my power....and I will not belittle those who had the talent and friends to get it done.
