For those praying for beastmen races, and think that alot of people are with them on this. Check out this Guild Wars 2 news snippet.

guild wars 2 writer laments racial lopsidedness

(The important bit is the bottom left, with the "Human" race making up a massive percentage of character creation, with other classes lingering at around 15%)

Hell look at how few people make Roegadyn as it stands in XIV. Beast races may sound novel and cool, but when it comes to being practical to develope them...it just doesn't boil down to being a good idea at the end of the day. Why spend so much time on a new set of animations/gear design/whatnot when like 10% of your players will pick it over everything else?

It's also why I'm a advocate of them focusing on the current races and making them diverse animation wise instead of plopping in more races, likewise with mounts. Stick with Chocobos and flesh them out, don't give everything with teeth and glaws a saddle...

I wouldn't mind just keeping what they plan on implementing with the launch of ARR and sticking with that throughout the rest of the game. FF isn't one of those games designed to create a new character and level up, so except to only a small handful of people, this will be an aesthetic change to make a mule or something. How many people are really going to want to start over two years from now when they come out with a new race?

If it were in at ARR launch it'd be more plausible, as I expect to see quite a few male Mi'qote running around, along with the female Rogs and Highlanders.

Wonder if they will give a 1 time race switch (to new race) option at purchase of that expansion pack (most likely an expansion adds a new race). *if they dont then that particular race may be considered "unique/rare" unless it is a moogle or something lol (Vierra? :P)

Would really suck to have to start from fresh if you already had some relics pumping out lol.

The Charr and Asura look so great in GW2, but even I chose a human warrior because I played a human in GW1.

All of my other characters have been Asura and Charr though.

I doubt you'll see any more races, and if there are they'll surely be humanoid

Reason being gear design, they want to work with a 'one size fits all' system instead of creating vastly unique models for each race

i like quikins the best from even ffxi and would of loved to play them but since they went with same races as ffxi only at this point i rather them not work on new races. like jynx pointed out most are very unused. but mostly in my opinion, of course, i don't care one bit about cosmetics. it makes me sad when devs put to much time into those things over content. i'd take 1 more nm in the world or extra dungeon b4 wanting to see a few extra races.

Qiqirns and ivalice moogles are why I voted for mammalian beastmen for the new race poll. We already have mithra, we don't need another "slap ears and a tail on it" race.
