that was completely out of his control. that came from above and was discussed before in interviews when discussing the game during the creation stage.

Sorry, but there's absolutely no reason why an online FF can't be a "real" one.Want a REAL FF? Go play an offiline one.
FFXI did a way better job of this than anyone outside of its playerbase gives credit for.
Yoshi-P pulling it off in 2 years...please.. since excuses were invented everything is well done.Maybe he needed 7 years not 5. Some times develop and polish new ideas and content takes more time and patience. Many of us were in the beta and we knew the state of the game when it released, it was not finished.
Tanakas vision of the game was not FFXI-2, nor that was what I wanted, personally. And I'm not saying 1.0 was a better game, it was terrible and was lacking in several times, but the concepts behind, the ideas, were good.
I see many people in this thread confusing the concept and the implementation we got. I didn't make it to say the game was better and that 2.0 will be terrible never will I say that 1.0 was a great game, because it wasn't. I only want to review what ideas Tanaka's vision had that were interesting and promising, we all know how they were done, but that is not he point of this thread.
Prior to the games release you have no idea just how FFXI-2 it looked (and to some degree still looks). in fact, for a while I thought it was actually the same game engine, just with a new graphics engine. I mean with the sole exception of the roes, they didn't even try to make the races look unique, Many monsters look literally exactly the same just with a bit more detailed model. The movement, input delay, and everything felt almost exactly hte same as FFXI. Gradually we saw a bit of that taken out over time (We still have a lot of it but it's gotten better), but to this day it still feels like FFXI-2 in many ways. It's not that FFXI is bad, it's not- it's awesome! the problem was that FFXIV really didn't end up changing a whole lot.Tanakas vision of the game was not FFXI-2, nor that was what I wanted, personally.
It's thanks to Yoshi P that the game will end up being much different at all.

I liked the physical level. The problem was that it became a useless stat after u lvl'd a couple classes up.
And i still like Leves to this day.
Thats funny, you got it backwards, offline FF's are easy as cake.Want a REAL FF? Go play an offiline one.
The hardest thing about an online MMO is finding a competent group. Least everything was made to be won with AI in offline mode.
No...Which just proves it was presented well.
The idea is still you get X exp from a mob, which reduces over time, resulting in (X - Y_t) exp.
If you present this as a bonus (guardian aspect, rested XP), there are more chances people will accept the system unlike a negatively formulated system (fatigue)
Rested experience is an added bonus on top of regular experience. The regular experience is based off the mob level, and your level. No matter what, you'll get a set amount of experience based off what you kill.
Fatigue was regular experience being reduced to nothing, forcing you to switch classes. This is nothing like the system we have now.
I'm not talking about dificulty.
Well, it's not worth arguing with people on the internet.
I simply stated my opnion. Do whatever you want with it.
Peace.
i wonder if SE is in the works already for there next mmo, already knowing this one probably will fail. the ffxi team should start a kickstarter i'd happily donate a few bucks to the cause of getting them the funds to make a ffxi-2.
