I'm sure the weather will change a bit and whatnot, but I don't think there will be an actual "event" so to speak.
I think square can't wait to get rid of 1.0. much less make its demise any more nostalgic.
I always thought that the battle seen in the trailer for ARR would be the end of 1.0, it has just dawned on me that the battle showing the eorzean alliance vs the garleans involving louisoix is actually what we will be logging into at ARR release.
Probably because Yoshi has expressly stated that he's keeping 2.0 spoilers under wraps because the 1.0 story hasn't concluded yet.
Not only that, but if you're up to date on the Dalamud storyline, then you already know that your character is expected to help fight at the last stand against the Garleans in Mor Dhona, where the grand summoning of The Twelve is slated to take place.
i still wonder how our opening to 2.0 will be if us 1.0 players will get a cutscene new players dont or if that will be handled in 2.0 ending where theyll show up the new eorzea then cut to credits o_o
"Thy life is a river to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"
This is what I thought as well. With the way the server data save and shutdown are happening, it would be quite difficult for SE to ensure that all people get to experience the cataclysm if they put it at the end of 1.0. Instead, having it at first log in to ARR would be much easier for them to manage and make sure everyone gets to experience it.
But then there is this.
Perhaps there will be 2 versions? One for 1.0 characters logging in to ARR, and one for new characters created after ARR goes live?
In any case, it's very exciting. ^^
My question is (if there is some kind of "End Event") do we have to have completed all the quests leading up to it in order to participate/view the "Final Cut Scene"?
I have not completed them myself is why I ask.
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
Like most things involving this game for some time now, I've realized the mentality of going in hoping for something good, but expecting something mediocre is really the best idea.
So I expect there to be very little changed. As someone said, new weather seems almost guaranteed, along with the final image of Dalamud not so much up in the sky anymore so much as on the ground now. They'll probably just toss Garleans everywhere at all times also.
I am hoping, however, for a bit more depth to this doomsday scenario. All the fauna in the game acting bizarrely, as would be typical in such a situation, Dalamud Answers playing on loop wherever you go, even on Chocobo, NPCs killed, etc.
they will have an event but it's more like the one in there office lmao. wooot woot the mmo is off, one less thing to worry bout. they can called it i got time to wipe my ass now event
but if there is an event they need to tell us and tell us exactly the times for all time zones so i don't miss it.
