Regional Servers revisited...

I've read all that when they were posted. No where did they mention that existing players will be able to transfer to a different existing server at launch.

What I gathered from the rep responses was there will be world transfer service. However existing users cannot transfer server for a set amount of time after ARR launches (unclear on whether it's just to new servers or also to existing servers).

Actually, the second link clarifies that they were specifically talking about people that started on new servers.

Also, the tidbit about the one-time server transfer for anyone must have been posted in an interview or by a JP dev maybe, can't remember right now...

I don't recall they explicitly spent time to talk about what happens to existing players except that existing players will be in their current worlds at launch + they won't be able to transfer to new worlds after a certain amount of time.

Whenever people brought up similar questions, the rep responses were all vague and were all centered on new players instead of existing players.

I might have missed that JP rep or interview (though unlikely since I've been following these pretty closely) but they really should have an announcement on what's going to happen to existing players VS regional servers.

Even if, seeing as they never mentioned that the existing characters will be somehow transferred by them and that you can end up in a server not in your region I would say it's still pretty safe to assume we will get a chance to choose. I don't see a reason to worry about that too much.

Somebody mentioned that at the launch of ARR exisiting members will still be on the same server as we left. Is this correct, and if it is why aren't they setting it up for us to chose a regional server at the start?

Because I told them not to.

And there wont be server transfers right away at launch, gonna have to wait.

yes, they have stated a few times on clarification. you will be allowed a 1 time server transfer if you want to go to a regional server, but you will NOT be allowed to move to a sever designated to new players unless you create a new character. also, after that one time move it will be quite a while before they consider adding the server transfer option so you will be stuck wherever you move.

i only remember it because i was under the same opinion, but went to show my entire shell when i seen the post.

are ps3 players able to come to our servers or are they all forced to a new server? i'll hate the idea that i'm not playing with every country and ps3 players like in ffxi. if they are all on same server, i can bet playing either a pc or ps3 rich server you will see a big difference in how they play or run events.

they will have a choice to play with us(if there is room on the servers) or start on a new player only server. it will be completely their decision, but personally i think i'd start on one of the new player servers if i were to first start the game with ps3. i don't believe i'd join a server that's already 2 years old with tons of people already all capped classes.

Okay, thanks for the info but this preliminary decision they are making about existing players being on the same server(supposedly Japan) at launch and not being able to move for awhile is going to cause some issues in my opinion. Okay we start playing, make a free company, getting people joined, our friends, etc. and then down the road we get this option of moving.... Which I assume everybody will do to go to their regional server (eu or na) and thus splitting everybody up...

Why not give us the choice at the start so we can go where we want get settled in and not have to worry about it later...
