Hhmm, wow so it was only one year since they annunced 2.0, really can't believe it lol. This year went so slow ><.That is the date when the Roadmap was written, way before ARR was announced. The 2.0 Site, where you got those roadmap etc from, was released in October.
http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com...mber?ym=201110
Go there Scroll down.
They added a lot of Stuff since then in the Outline and Roadmap, without changing the initial Date. Oct was the announcement of the ARR-Release.
Well, i guess SE includes Dev-Posts, Lodestone-Entries also as "News". If we would go by that, the latest entry was today.
Yeah i feel the same sometimes. >_<
"The flood will come at E3 with the first trailer, the flood will come at Gamescon, The flood will come in August since that's what it says on the road-plan to ARR, the flood will come at TGS, the flood will come at the 25th anniversary show, the flood will come at the 3rd live letter."
Indeed information was released but for a game that has thousands of players already paying in expectation of ARR, is the information enough? Frankly its not, new games release more info then this at this point in the development.(unless its a rockstar game) Still in the dark about PVP, no idea how dungeon timers and the new loot system will work, no idea how summons will work, or penalties for keeping them out. No info on how skills for classes have changed, no info on how primals will be changed (they stated the fights will change), no info on new character creation options, no info on the new market wards/AH, no info on how Level sync will work and a lot of other features...
In the case of most of the features listed above, we know that the feature itself exists but just don't know how it will work and that's the part that matters; "Please look forward to it" "we'll post it in topics", with exactly 2 weeks till the data save date, these kind of answers just don't cut it anymore.
Also in terms of expecting info from Alpha, from the player side, no one is gonna post Alpha info since its a breach of terms and you can lose your account. As opposed to a new game where u don't have the risk of losing your old character data and account so people will be less likely to talk about Alpha features if they do get into Alpha. While SE might release info, they can just as likely not, in fact i think there is more reason not to during the Alpha, since that's when you would make changes to major key features that have issues.

Ugh.. not this again.. I'm not even going to give my input on this.
" Why you respond to this thread?"
Because I felt like it @.@.
To Yoshi-OP: I'm in total agreement with you, We didn't get a Flood of information, because a "Flood" happens all at once. However, the accumulation of the information to me adds up to a Flood

When the best thing we get in the past couple weeks or so is a screenshot contest then people start getting frustrated and can you blame them? Not only has our grand finale been pretty pathetic but our flood of information has been pathetic also.

Yeah. Lol in the PDF it says "Radical changes to in game world" wat? There was nothing radical. I was expecting different music, weather effects, tons of events and live events...lol
and would it kill them to let us have more info about the beta/alpha/release? All my friends are laughing at me now (and have every right to do so) because since 2.0 announcement I kept saying to them, SE will be on time with this, they won't delay it..and most importantly will keep their players up to date with info! Haha boy was I wrong. All I am hearing now is a bunch of "I told you so" ._.
Where is the info on how summoner will work, how about raid drops, pvp? If they so badly want our opinions and do not want to make the same mistake as last time..why are they not letting us know?
The lore posts are boring as hell to read and almost never tells us anything new or interesting, maybe I just don't like the format its presented in because I usually love lore.
Thing is, most of us don't refresh the lodestone thinking "Oh boy! I hope there's a contest/lore post!" we're here for ARR or the final patch info or that list of items that won't make it to ARR that they promised us 2 centuries ago or maybe a letter from Yoshi (even though he hasn't written anything worthwhile lately) or anything else that is actually relevant.
How about some concept art? or showing us some new equipment/monster/area models or anything else related to ARR?
Agree with your Post, cept:
People did in 1.0 Alpha and Beta and they will in 2.0 Alpha and Beta and that will be the Point where we get most Informations from. Its not a matter of "breaking terms", its a matter of fact that people always leak Stuff. I wouldnt do it, but that wont hold other people from doing it. And SE cant figure who is leaking Stuff, unless people dont erase their names on Screens and Videos. Most did that in 1.0. To be honest i dislike the way people break those terms, BUT i would lie if i say that i wouldnt like more informations out of first hand experience.
Whatever you say.
I am on the same boat as you. I get crap for playing FFXIV all the time, haha.Yeah. Lol in the PDF it says "Radical changes to in game world" wat? There was nothing radical. I was expecting different music, weather effects, tons of events and live events...lol

It is pretty miserable how SE decides to communicate with us. Having information or not, they need to come out and give us constant updates on the situation instead of leaving us in the dark and we find out about 2.0's features "after" it gets released.
As I said in the other thread, the veteran players will be their backbone in the player base and they need to do everything they can to keep us in until they can build a good player base from new subscribers.
I also agree that their "flood of information" is complete nonsense. The "most" we have gotten from them is a few pieces of artwork and a few trailers. The most information we have gotten out of him is through interviews. I want to see this "flood of information" on their website, thoroughly explaining how concepts will work in 2.0. What will be in 2.0 but not 1.0 fundamentally? I don't talk in regards to items and achievements, I mean concepts, reward systems, timers for dungeons, game progression, ilvl gear, and so on.
Why is it their intent to make us figure everything out? Sometimes people like knowing what they are getting into before playing, especially people who have played your original game for two years. Give us a good incentive to stick around for 2.0, don't leave us in the dark.
SE, talking casually with us doesn't make you good in communication. Good communication is answering us when there is a major issue. Why do we have to escalate a problem high enough to get a response saying that you are not going to do anything? You need serious improvements in your communication with us. We have been complaining about this to you since day one and you haven't done anything to improve it.
It is Patch 1.21 all over again, you hide things till the very last second and you do nothing but pissing off your community. Please, tell us what is going on.
The reason the contest looks insulting is because instead of keeping us up to date like we should, all they have done in the last two weeks is give us compilations of information we already have and a contest with a cruddy reward. It is a poor attempt to keep us distracted.
SE, just....talk to us. - -;
