The thing is, there has to be a cutoff time. I do agree that it should have been at the end of October though. And yet, even with your full fledged logic, if they locked down servers 10 days later than they decided to do and not moved to free, I would be qualified.
I really don't get why you all people make such a fuss about loyalty and such, when a so small portion of time is involved.
Slap or not, it was just 10 days. And you still have your slap, when people who started paying on later June have the same reward you get from having played two years non-stop.
So stop making this a principle fight.
It's just days, with the arbitrary decision to stop everything months before alpha is up.
Days. Not slaps, principles, loyality crap and such. A few days and the gift of making this all free for a month.
Slightly unrelated but I dont even know why they started brining everything down on schedule when the rest of their plan is off schedule lol.
But I agree, -all- of October should have been available for bill pay and the left over going into ARR. Technically for myself I payed for the whole damn thing lol I was right on 30th due date, so as the bill pay server shut off they charged me the month XD.
I ended up getting pretty lucky with that, but a friend decided not to bother paying for two days essentially lol.
I feel that SE get something so right (legacy in general) but then tarnish it with silly decisions.
I guess the mean and arrogant behavior is explained, at least. Most of the people here already have legacy - and have had it for a while. So its not really their battle and dont care. Also we have an unusually large amount of people who want to feel special just because they payed for a game that wasn't complete. (Hence all the slap in the face talk, even though the main page makes no differentiation).
Also most people here are are very active forum users so they have read SE forum updates - which put a general cut off (this was a guideline cut off but it kicked a lot of people in gear). Though this information wasn't readily available to those who joined later, but they all forget that. (Thats why you will hear them say you had plenty of warning when you have no idea what they are talking about)
It's just an elitarist show off, after all, with no compassion at all.
In stance, it would appear they are quite happy with other's misery.
It's just a "The least have my same special mount, the more special my mount is." kind of argument.
Funny thing is, I didn't wish a flame to start at all, but people instead that not caring and not giving an answer, felt so proud and happy about my misfortune that couldn't stop themself to publicly gloat for they being special and more deservedly rewarded.
I let myself out from this kind of environment - forums and such - for a long time, and since I had the impression people being nice in game (much more than in any other, really!), I had the illusion that matched they being so here, as well, and came back.
As I stated since my first very sentence, I'm sorry if someone already asked this, and if all this sound noobish, pathetic, or whatever.
Yes, I am sad, desperate, unhappy and really unsettled for being out without a chance to fix this.
You are free to consider me a crybaby, but I was very transparent on this, so you don't need a deep insight to confirm that, sure, I'd like thing being otherwise.
And I can accept the fact, I've got no problem with that. I was just looking for a slice of hope, nothing more.
That said, I got what I was looking for and I thank anyone who gave me a straight answer.
See ya all on ARR, if the chance for a meeting happens.
I stared playing at the beginning of June, first month was free, last month was free, So even though I've played June, July, Aug, Sept, Oct- even with 5 months, 5 jobs at 50 and all Crafts/gathering 40+, I do not qualify. I'm halfway done with my Relic, and I've talked 3 friends into joining the game, but I feel like the implicit message is that I wasn't part of the 1.0 experience by not being a Legacy member, so feeling wise it kinda sucks..
I didn't understand what "Legacy" was when I started, I was too busy trying to figure out why my MNK needed intelligence.
I'd just pay SE the stupid 30 or 50 bucks for the choco mount, the 5$ a month is whatever I'm still going to play it either way, but I do think they setup the "3 month" period as a requirement in the worst possible way for anyone like me who joined this year and have been playing for 5 months but do not qualify.

Dude, if you started playing in June, you should definitely have gotten legacy in September
You heard it too, didn't you? the voice... of the wind....
Even though I started the beginning of June and that's 5 months the official release said May was the cut off, I would have paid those months just to make legacy if they'd given me the option, I never had a choice.

I started a mule in June and still got Legacy on it. There should be a legacy icon on your character select screen, if not I would definitely contact customer service.

I guess I'll have to contact SE..

You're making a point that you missed the deadline by 10 days. If they extended the deadline by 10 days, you'd be happy. But what about the people who missed the deadline by 11 days (now 1 day), or 12 days, or 13 days. The cutoff is there for a reason, if they kept pushing it back simply because a subset of players missed it by a very small margin, they'd extend it to eternity. And no, you can't argue that this is different from what you're hoping to happen, because if the deadline was extended for 9 days and you missed by 1, you'd feel like crap. And yet, even with your full fledged logic, if they locked down servers 10 days later than they decided to do and not moved to free, I would be qualified.
