E-mails were sent (whether you got them or not), it was plastered on the Lodestone. If you cared to keep up with the game you would have noticed this and taken advantage of it.

They could have done a better job keeping the website up to date. When cut offs and such are. The initial requirements where only to get 3 months before Beta starts and yet alpha hasn't even started and people are still locked out of the campaign - this was poor on SE part. Though perhaps japan (SE) isn't used to being explicit with its writing, updates, and constant reminders - as a lot American companies are due to sue threat (if you can get over fine print of course :P).

Special cases shouldn't have to be made, SE should have either updated the website 3 months in advance to reflect a true and different cut off or technically Legacy should still be available for grabs. As of now I think the issue is not black and white like you and others are trying to make it out to be.

There is a section -now- informing that no more payments will be accepted but that was put up when it was impossible to make a decision or not if you would join for the carrot (they put it up when there weren't 3 months available to spend - so that if you joined two months late you were screwed).

(And don't get all "this is for loyalty" on me, loyal people don't need carrots to be loyal - SE gave everyone a carrot to buy us out - sure some of use would have played regardless but its not as much about loyalty as it is about incentivising just like a CE isnt about loyalty its about whats in the box - if it sucks people dont buy)

So this is the true face of kind players of FFXIV? A bunch of people who links Youtube video that points a finger to you and say "Stupid!"? More that just say "You missed your boat, loser!"?
I mean, like I asked to steal something from you, why such hostile arguments?
When I said "Please", I meant it. I know you deserve it more than me, I really do.
You know what is like living a dream since you are a child and see it fading away in front of your eyes just for being 10 days too late? You lost your human empathy somewhere on the road? Am I not someone who, just like you, love this game and was willingly paying to enjoy it, even if a little later?
I paid the box and tried, I really did, to play it since the first day. I insisted on my friend that we give it a second chance because I wanted to play it with him, and finally convinced on august - and be aware, it's not that I didn't like the game in the beginning, I just couldn't bear the OMINOUS latency playing from EU.
So ok, I'm not as much supportive as you all were, but I WAS supportive to SE.
And when ARR will be out for everyone, I will be treated just as like everyone else who bought the new version of the game.
That just feel... Sad.
And I don't want to claim or demand anything, I was just... Let's say, begging, that I had some way to do this.

Plus, I would REALLY like to be supportive as you were. I would've REALLY liked to have gotten back in the game before.

So if there was, let's say, an option to pay in advance 20, 30 or even 40 bucks to give some kind of support, at least economical, to SE, and to receive some kind of reward (even a lower version than yours, that would be fine too!), I would REALLY pay for it and help with all I can.
Because I really believe in this game, and I like it more than any other MMO out there.

And yes, even because that little child that wanted its name to be displayed on a Final Fantasy game credits, know this is his only chance to have his dream accomplished.

If you managed to make 3 payments of 30 days or 1 payment of 90 days in the time between January 6th & September 29th you pretty much qualified for legacy even though they said the cutoff was well before that. I created an account in June, paid in July, August & September 27th and received the legacy status. They are a lot more lenient on who qualified for legacy than they seem on the lodestone but there is one rock solid requirement you need to meet. You must have made the required number of payments, if you didn't do that then you don't qualify 100% certainty.

Sorry if you weren't able to meet the criteria but the dates were announced even if the accuracy of the announcements weren't exactly there. There has been confusion about the dates & cutoffs in multiple threads about the legacy campaign.

Chastising the mean cranky forum people won't really accomplish much. They're on every forum in existence, and no amount of chastising is going to change that.

As has already been said, it's a bummer you missed the boat, but the Legacy incentive was about more than just the $30, given you were paying that for your subscription, not the Legacy. The Legacy was a 'Thank you' for people who paid for 3 months of subscription. They had to suspend billing at some point, so it was inevitable that there would be those caught with less than 3 months paid before billing was suspended.

This is essentially the same sad truth behind those that wanted all of October to be free, but wound up having to pay for some or all of the month due to everyone's billing dates being all over the place (and therefore the reason why they suspended billing over a month before the final data save date).

And I read that, that's the reaosn because I gladly try it when I got the free week. Plus, it is the reason because I actually was able to convince my friend to get back to me, since noticing lag was partially gone.
I didn't, however, receive no mail about this Legacy thing, and i didn't follow the lodestone because... I wasn't playing the game.

Not a single SE game, till now, has escaped joining my library.

I just state it once more, so to be clear: I would like to be supportive with SE, if I could've done it.

We're not being mean at you, we're simply stating the truth. We're pointing out the fact that the reason you're not getting it is because you didn't follow the guidelines that were posted all over the place for months. You can't exactly expect sympathy from us because you didn't qualify for it when everyone else stuck with the game...

I think you are choosing not to read anything of it. And your second part describes someone who isn't loyal to the bone, which is what a lot of people in this thread are trying to say it was for. (which most of my post was directed at).

3 months is all they wanted in loyalty time to be considered a part of legacy.

No, it describes the person who may have had to cancel because of financial reasons. that's the specific kind of person I was referring to. And that's why it was only "3 months" instead of "the whole time-" because it easily could have been.

No it doesnt. What described finacial reasons at 3 rather then 1 or 0.

If they wanted to reward loyalty they would have given this info out on September 29th when no one could buy any more months.

They -wanted- to get your money and used this as their method - its not about loyalty as much as people want to make themselves feel special for being legacy.


Like early purchase of minecraft - you get a lower price because its not complete. Not because you are awesome loyal customer. You just paid the development costs.
