    look at the second bullet point. it does specifically state equipped items and not items in gearsets and we see the video of the saw going back into inventory. it leads many to believe that when you are on blm(for example) the blm gear does not count towards your 100 limit, but your whm gear does and when switching to whm(for example) then the whm gear doesn't and the blm gear does.

    in ARR you will effectively have MORE INVENTORY SPACE than you do now. Your retainers inventory space is getting boosted by 25 slots each. In addition, you are getting gear sets that effectively remove gear from your inventory.

    Lets say you have completed 8 gear sets. (Presumably you can have 1 for each class, so you could have more.) Not counting jewelry, you have 6 items in each set, so that's 48 more slots. Add your jewelry to those sets and you can easily see how you'll have more inventory space in ARR than in 1.0.

    for those slow at math:

    175 slots per retainer X 2 = 350
    Conservative estimate of slots created by gear sets = 48
    regular inventory slots 100

    total slots in ARR 498 (very conservative estimate)
    1.0 inventory spaces = 500

    ARE YOU REALLY COMPLAINING ABOUT 2 INVENTORY SPACES?!!!

    This is not true. The saw in his inventory might be another item or something. It was explicitly stated that items in gear set do not take inventory space.

    Ah lol, yeah I don't doubt with our legacy status we can be awesome pack rats, I thought you were inferring that "mules" should be necessary though. Which got my feathers ruffled a little XD, since for us - no problem free characters. But the new people will be charged more already, and then charged more if mules are something that is needed due to too limited inventory spaces.

    Definitely about that house topic though, I imagine the small houses will be similar in size (slightly smaller) to the current inns and mog house, so I really cant imagine what they would do with a medium or large house unless they are removing house storage all together ;_;. I can manage my inventory but it would suck to create another character just to hold my collection of u/u(s)








    @ Molly:

    I thought the second retainer was only temporary. Did we end up getting to keep him?

    would it be the first time they've changed something after they stated it? no, it would be par for them and the lodestone post was posted after the video specifically stating equipped items will not count.

    This was said during the live letter so exactly during the same time you mentioned, so it's not something that was said a while back:

    A: We’ll be releasing a Topics announcement regarding this matter. Yes, the inventory limit will be reduced to 100 slots. In ARR, when you equip an item, that item disappears from your inventory. So when you put together all your gear sets, your inventory won't be as full.

    Items in gear sets do not take up inventory space. I watched the same videos and read the same posts. Nothing has changed.

    Furthermore, being that retainers are gaining 25 slots each as well as 10 more bazaar slots, we"re gaining 35x2= 70 slots. Losing 100 inventory and 10 bazaar slots on the characters themselves, so -110.

    70-110= 40 total storage slots lost.

    That's before counting how equipped items and gear sets don't take up inventory. Once you consider that it turns out that we're basically the same on storage, but a hell of a lot more organized and convenienced.

    But in this case, them reneging makes no sense in context. Everything else contradicts it, if items in gearsets took up inventory space, we wouldn't have all of this "one item per gearset" business. Similarly, gearsets, given their already obvious shortcomings, truly would be worthless if they left gear in the inventory. Yoshi-P mentioned macros being used to switch gear between gearsets, which means macros have just as much power as gearsets in that context. I cannot believe even SE would implement a system with literally no purpose.
