I actually tried out WoW a couple weeks ago for the first time.
It's competent in a lot of ways,
and when someone turned into a bird and let me fly on his back, that was cool.
But the clipping plane and fog are (in 2012) unforgivable.
It's complete trash.

Idk what ur referring to, clipping plane & fog? But I actually d/l it few days ago and I'm playing a little, prot paladin (tanking paladin) and I have to admit, the idea of Pandas seemed dumb but it's actually pretty cool. I thought the intro movie was awesome, the commercial doesn't give it away. Going back to WoW after FFXIV, the gameplay/controls is such a refreshing feeling & keybinding.. I can actually make full use of my Razor Naga mouse. Current FFXIV is designed for controller in mind, the action bar setup...

Is designed for controllers, they can directional pad easily down to the other bars. PC users would work better with more visible skills that allow keybinding to keyboard/mouse.

FFXIV def has better graphics, that's a fact. But OVERALL I would rate WoW better than FFXIV, currently.

P.S. My paladin is Lv.85 in endgame 85 gear so my perspective is probably diff than someone new playing /shrug.

Btw Moll, even if we don't see eye-to-eye on stuff, I just wanted to give a shout out and say that I read a lot of your posts before I even played the game, when I was deciding to play & you & doctor mog are like my lil FFXIV famos ppl. I forgot all i read but I always remember u as the tank person /shrug

I don't see what your talking about WoW has some beautiful zones especially with how they did all of Northrend Vashjir Hyjal where they implemented these awesome looking biospheres... they have updated their graphics since there launch but there is only so much you can do they are working on their next MMO which we should see in beta by the end of next year probably announced at next blizzcon... seriously I loved most of the zones in XI but there really wasnt much exportability atleast WoW had that aspect in it I just can't stand people hating on something just for the sake of hating a lot of games have their bad points why arent you all bashing the cookie cutter games that followed the same design then a game that was unique at the time... sigh I don't get this community o.o now the worst game I have ever played is GW2 which WoW is still 10x better... "WE GOT RANDOM EVENTS GOING ON WHICH YOU SHOULD LEVEL IN" its unique but its a horrible system I hated leveling up in GW2 I hated the graphics of GW2 ... there I'm one of you now comparing how much GW2 was garbage... jeez... GW2 is still x2-5 worse then WoW and its just how people view their opinions... hell I love TSW and everyone says its garbage for being unique... people want something different then they cry about something that is different... and they cheer for cookiecutter games that are just heavily publicized... oh well rant end...

Not my intention, my point was considering enough people are upset by the bugs still present ingame, what would happen if players just instantly died for no clear reason? idk how WoW's death penalties work, but I'm sure people would not be happy about having to return to a hp that may be in another zone or having all thier gear wrecked in under a minute.

I also thought it was worth mentioning since the article mentioned the hack was an exploit that was present in the Pandara expansion, which came out not too long ago. Again, how do you think people would react if they log into ARR for the first time, and instantly died repeatedly and inexplicably within the first week? People were pretty upset with the first release, so ARR's release will likely be under an increased amount of scrutiny.
