Plain and simple? FFXIV sucks. While you may not think so, the fact that FFXIV has such a tiny player base is a good indication of this. A failed game shouldn't persist with failed concepts.
I have to ask, do you even know what they are changing for 2.0? It seems like a huge waste of breath showing concern for a game version that isn't going to exist in a month. I am seeing a lot of concerns listed that have already been addressed by Yoshida to be fixed in ARR.
Of course, "being fixed", will be be up for debate till more information is released in how the fixes will truly function. We just mostly have concept. Complaints about Version 1.0 should have stopped a long time ago. It's just a ghost now.

FFXIV sucks for the casual train that hops from mmo to mmo anyways, yea.
FFXI always had a tiny player base compared to the "big" mmos, but that player base was stable over years.
Creating a game for a minority isn't bad, in fact its the only way of making a good game for a certain group of people - quit whining just because you don't belong to that group and go back to casual-feels-like-wow mmo #342343543

You do know that it costs money to run the servers ?
You do know that some quests require parties of people on or past the same quest, online at the same time ?
You do know that SE is a business, who's primary goal is to make money ?
Oh wait, nm you're a fanboi, have fun playing your unique game while it lasts
I brought it up because your argument about how a smaller, but more loyal niche community is not profitable for SE is blown apart completely by the success of FFXI. Servers cost money, yes, but you can adjust the amount of servers you have to match the amount of players you're drawing in. You remember the server merge, right? That's what they do when the amount of players doesn't match how many servers you have. FFXI was profitable, and the game has been alive and kicking for a decade and is still going.
That is why I brought up FFXI.
You do know that niche games with small player bases can still be extremely profitable? Otherwise MMOs wouldn't have existed pre-WoW.LoL

You do know that the larger the player base, the more servers? If WoW has 20x more subscribers than some other game, they'll also have 20x more realms. The amount of players on each server doesn't have to be any different. The populations on WoW vary by quite a bit but thats because they don't place any limitations.
You do know that you probably don't own a stake in SE, and therefore should be more concerned about your enjoyment of your own game experience and not their balance sheet?
Oh wait, nm you're a WoW fanboi who would prefer we have a massive player base where more than half the players are extremely casual, and log in for 30 mins a week. XI had the strongest community of any game I've ever played because it was a niche game with loyal players who genuinely cared about the game's direction, and stayed with it for years.
