NO thanks x1000. I'd rather be able to tell what people are wearing by looking at them, and I'd also like to be able to show off my gear without being examined.

Considering the process of "what's that awesome chestpiece? /check" makes a quick and easy transition to "what's that awesome transmog piece? /check", your second point is kinda moot.
And if you can't tell what class/job a person is by looking at their weapon, well...
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
I want people to be able to tell I have Darklight on be just seeing my character, and not checking. That's the point.

So then don't put something in a vanity slot and turn it on so your darklight will show? I mean obviously if you are wearing it you have it on and I doubt anyone is going to be putting darklight in a vanity slot over a slot that matters statwise at this point.
If you want people to see that YOU have Darklight, then don't use the vanity gear slot for whatever "Darklight" gear you have. Picture that whatever isn't in the vanity slot will display the current equipped gear.

To add to this, heavy darklight armor looks stupid as @$#! to me, so when I obtain it to wear, I dont want to have to look stupid as @#$! in order to have good stats. I would like to continue "Looking the Part", as the quest is titled, because it looks better to me. I hate being forced to have a helm shown, in and out of combat.
