It is sad that waist items will not be visible.

Also when SE says: "The effective purchasing power of your savings will not change." that assumes people will automatically price all market ward items at 1/10 their previous price. That will not happen for a long time - if ever.

Yes it will. All bazaars are being removed, and no price history will be in place. If someone decides to put their item up for the price it is now, it'll never sell, so it's a waste of time. It's just like when people put stuff up for the maximum gil now, it does nothing to the actual market.

Within a month the markets/auction house will be functioning normally.

Ok, I definitely agree putting Heaven's Eye IV up for 2 mil is not going to fly in 2.0 but what about 400k? At first glance that seems totally reasonable. But thinking about it further, 400k is actually TWICE as much as in 1.0. This isn't something you can easily predict. There is emotional attachment to selling things at a certain price. Most categories are dominated by a group of sellers that have found a way to profit on a few items. When the game restarts, they will easily remember what the 1.0 price was and try and price accordingly.
Again, I agree that will not work and prices will stabilize. But to what point? To say that within a month the markets/AH will be functioning normally (I take that to mean prices being at 1/10) is just a guess. It could just as easily happen that prices readjust upward and stay there forever.
I am anxious to see what happens and happily hope I'm proven wrong.

It WILL happen. Supply and demand will gravitate all item prices to where they should be based on the avialability of the item and people's desire to buy it. It's simple economics and redenomination does not change the rules of economics. People who try to be assholes will not sell items and will have to lower their prices until stuff starts selling.
