Damn, we're getting at least 100 times what we've already seen? Square-Enix really outdid themselves with the reboot!

only thing SE can do is put the game out before another big mmo comes out, so people can atleast play it and see if they like it and make sure major bugs are gone.I remember the brawl hype..I think it was the most hyped up game of all time. =D Hehe I went to the midnight launch...
I wish SE would do more for the game...but eh its their choice. I recently reactivated my FFXI account so I could tell my friends I'm alive and that I play FFXIV annnnd how they should come play it when ARR comes out. None of them have interest. None. I showed them the site, the videos, etc.
theres a few mmo's coming in 2013 and a few are sequals so a loyal fan base always jumps on them first.
decent list is here as we all know things do change: http://mmoreleases.info/release_dates.html

I don't like, that I have to draw conclusions out of subordinate clauses. Not that I already drew my own conclusions. I am pretty disappointed by their information policy the last three months.
Check out mwomercs.com. That is how you release a game. You post stuff every single day and then every week or so throw in something new.
You want to know why I think SE isn't doing this so well?
Because 2.0 doesn't have that much new, there isn't much to show.
I love this game to death, if only because I played XI for whatever ungodly time span, but honestly I don't see it having that "wow" factor until an expansion.

I think they are behind schedule.
We were supposed to get much more updates
The closing date is almost here (one month away mind you) and we are still not sure what exactly is happening after and how 2.0 will roll out...

I think the information issue has to do with dropping the ball on multi-language updates. I understand the developers and company are Japanese based however if they want this game to be a huge worldwide hit we need to release that stuff as close together as possible.
Dont tell me to learn another language etc because if that were the case the translations wouldnt be an issue in general and obviously they are as they get proper translations after the fact. This is supposed to be a game that is supported by people from around the world yet I feel as if its still very much positioned to one group then everyone else is an afterthought.

All that information is useless to me, except ART/SMN D:
Need more important Disciple of Magic Information.

Pretty much this. The Japanese forums get updates fairly often, as seen in the Translated thread (thanks Reinheart). While we do eventually get them translated into our language, they're still being given out in one specific one. I understand that Square-Enix is a Japanese company, and that they would give Japanese players information first...but most of the time, this stuff is translated by players instead of the actual development team...which really feels like a slap to the face.I think the information issue has to do with dropping the ball on multi-language updates. I'd just like to have information given out within a 24 hour period on all forums. Japanese players aren't the only people who pay for this game, the rest of us should have just as much information released to us by the actual company in a timely manner.

First, if you're surprised that the game is starting to look like delayed, you haven't been paying attention to anything SE has released for years now, or even FFXIV's own 1.0 release schedule. I never expected it to make the date they gave, but I did expect it to be a better game, which it can only be if they give it more care than they did with the 1.0 launch. Rather than complain about the delay, just hope the time is being used to improve the game.
As far as marketing...yeah, I find the tone of some of these posts far too combative, but SE should probably be doing more to appeal to the global audience. I'm a bit worried by how little hype I've heard outside of the official forum and MMO centric sites, compare that to GW2 which has been friggin' everywhere.
Eh GW2 is a new MMO, you don't even hear about Pandaria much outside of the usual WoW playgrounds. Give it a few months, GW2 will likely end up as every other new MMO and soon enough the next released MMO will be all you hear about.
