Bleh, if the current dominant gear style goes, it'll be one more nice thing axed by the version shunt. New styles, sure, but there had better ruddy well always be a place for the nice, believable stuff we've had since the beginning.

I love the gear style of FFXIV
With Colloseum Gear probably being my least favorite one..
That being said, I'm also a girl and like to dress my doll...ehm..character up (how cliché!)
Something I really miss in FFXIV is more vanity gear, especially more girlish gear.
The closest we ever got to a real dress was the WHM AF body.
It wouldn't have to be "good" armor at all, but some dresses, hairbands, flower pins, frills at whatnot would be so nice
1~2 Def? Fine, those kind of clothes aren't supposed to protect you from Nael's Lance. They are for joking around in town or doing those "naked" Ifrit/Moogle/whatever runs.
I would be happy with them simply changing kecks so they show over more shoes/boots. Kecks + any boots or caligae = gross.

Victorian era would fit in perfectly I think. Also, I'd like there to be a special gear set for town clothes. That is, items that don't do anything for you other than look really nice.. Therefor people would only wear them in town.
And how about tobacco pipes? Maybe even cigars?

Are you serious? I would say it is sub par at best, only a few pieces of the top looking newer gear is pretty good but everything else looks like complete dookie. The gear designs are one of the best things XIV currently has going for it. They managed to hit this sweet spot between aesthetically interesting, and yet functional. No tacky, frivolous spikes and bikini armors (Aside from the Colosseum gear, which I really dislike), but not boring leather and chainmail
I would really hate to see this game lose yet another unique and interesting aspect to tacky, mass appeal shit

I like the gown set alot. I think it's appropriate for high-level crafters to look like aristocrats. But yes, the shoe designs leave something to be desired. Gaiters are too plain, pattens look uncomfortable, and workboots look like hockey pads. Thankfully I've always been WHM, even in FFXI, so I've never had to worry much about mismatched gear....UNTIL DARKLIGHT GLOVES! *cry*

What we need is more FF XII fashion

I agree with a few of the posters here. Though I love some outfits the mage stuff leaves much to be desired. BLM af(from a woman standpoint) is worse looking then the first af in XI and no one liked that. The BLM af in XIV looks like they added a mask to the XI BLM, and a longer jacket. All mage robes have horrid clipping issues, whether sitting, running, crafting or walking. Id like to see more of the cosplay live producer outfits, or more similar to XI's emperyan.
On a side note can we please fix hats in XIV. I have almost human ears for my elvaan because I don't like giant ears. shes pretty, I love her and playing as her, but every time I get a hat or head mask when i put it on my ears gain a good 5 inches.. please help my ears to stop having this embarrassing erection like issue when I wear hats
on a second side note, i agree with the post above mine and the FF XII looking outfits^^

Ah, but will facing north-by-northeast at 2:45 a.m. while the moon is a waning crescent result in a 27% increase in your chances to synthesize HQ mythril ingots!? That is real the question! ~Fernehalwes~
