Why must chocobos be our companions

I like what they're planning with the chocobos, but I really did enjoy the companion's we had in 1.0. I wish they could've done more

I would also like to see Red XIII/XIV as a Mount + ("Path") Companion in this game. (^_^ ) I mean, if Cait Sith and Tifa can ride horsey with Red? Why can't we?

I've played all FFs and all the Tactics actully!

I just suggested that we could have different choices for our path companions then it only being different chocobos. I would rather have moogle/gobbue companion or maybe a Beastman (goblin?).

Im one of those players who likes to be different from other players. I played pup in FFXI. So the idea of my companion being/looking the same as everyone is something dislike. Especially since everyone is going to use the whm chocobo or perhaps the Tank chocobo. Since those two are just going to be so much more useful then the DD chocobos. I wouldnt gimp myself just to be different since im a min maxer as well.

At least in FFxi you could make any race any job. All the whm chocobo will just be different colours wearing the same af. They will all have the same animations and sounds.

That or similar as a mount as a rare drop from an endgame boss, or something of a status symbol not easily obtained.. Heck yes I'd be all over that! Tell me that would not be badass when ppl see you on that. Also make it an achievement to obtain it! Also diff colors & 10% faster than regular mounts. I'm over chocobos, that's like entry level mounts. Chocobo in AF & hats? Nah!

No! Where as Chocobos are a recurring element in FF games, Red XIII is his own character, and should stay in his own game.

and leave other mounts as cosmetic mounts.

Then explain to me why you think it would be "f**kin stupid"? I mean, we are riding on a bird that can't fly. That reminds me of another bird actually...



And we can equip it with armor too!

Next to that we see Goobbue's bobbing around with people on their heads. We will see more different mounts (probably the Arhriman as well) in 2.0.

We are playing a (Final) Fantasy game, so why would it be "stupid" to add Red as a mount/companion in a (Final) Fantasy game?

I, for one, totally agree with OP.
I'd really like to fight with a Magitek Armor or an Arihman.
Sure, I like chocobos but I much prefer Magitek Armors.
In my opinion, it has more potential as a fighting companion than a chocobo, and I don't want to hurt the precious chocobo I will have raised.

But seriously, it comes down to having the choice. If you guys like chocobo, fight with them. If OP and I prefer another companion, allow us to be satisfied too. It won't hurt your play style, guaranteed.

P.S: If it's still not possible, at least, allow me to outfit my chocobo with a full Magitek Armor!
