    Realstic job influenced chocobo armor.



    I know this is the legacy chocobo. . but imagine it (with tweaks if you want) as the BLM chocobo armor. I dont mind chocobos fighting with me, though I think moogles being job classes would make more sense.

    The armor of the new chocobos is a little bit jarring, it will be hard to stay immersed when I keep wondering If i can wear my chocobo's armor. Or if perhaps my chocobo stole my AF from the chest and is wearing it.

    All the tarus wont be able to wear their AF after their chocobos stretch it out :P.

    Chocobos don't equip weapons to change into the class. Blm chocobo has no staff, Mrd chocobo has no Gaxe

    Yet can they wear AF ? XD

    So all chocobos need is to wear hat and armor and they can change classes? why cant i do the same and be a paladin with a greataxe or a warrior with a bow >_>

    It's barding with special stats.

    I wouldn't mind a whm choco while I'm soloing higher leveled mobs. I would rather have a moogle whm though. ^.^

    I think the idea of fighting along side your own chocobo is rather cool. Especially if it's one you've raised yourself. I tend to do a lot of guildleve's when i'm online, mostly because i don't have a lot of time to "shout for parties" in Ul'dah or try to form a party via the current search function.

    Personally, when i heard that we were going to get a Path Companion, i immediately thought of the FFXI Fellow. Unfortunately, the Path Companion only appeared halfway through the main storyline and didn't really participate in battles. Right now, i'd prefer having my own personal chocobo fighting along side of me then our current Path Companion.

    I know that during the Live Letter, Yoshi-P mentioned that they would remove the Path Companion for now so that they can implement a better one later. But, in the meantime i'll be having a big smile on my face while fighting monsters with my Kwehzacotl. (^_^ )-b

    I would also like to see Red XIII/XIV as a Mount + ("Path") Companion in this game. (^_^ ) I mean, if Cait Sith and Tifa can ride horsey with Red? Why can't we? (^_^ )

    Yeah I think a lot of people assumed XI style lol, but that was the problem..it was done in XI and people would (did) flip shit if XI elements sneak into XIV >.>

    I'm really excited about having a choco-panion. It's been in other FF titles, and clearly 2.0 looks to be this mass compilation of parts of FF titles that people loved! I say bring it on! It's unique to MMO's (afaik) to have to raise a companion from an egg into someone(thing-bird-whatever) who will either face-stomp stuff, or heal your dumb butt if you're taking a beating.

    The picture with the chocobo wearing BLM gear is a little silly, but I don't mind having chocobos as our companion as it fits the FF universe just fine. Bartz had a chocobo partner and they were recruitable into your party in other FFs. If anything, I'd rather the color of the chocobo determine it's stats. (i.e. Red for tank, Black for offensive caster, Green or White for healer, etc.)

    I can partially agree with the OP. At the same time, I realize they're trying to add as many new features within one element. In this case they picked chocobo and want to add breeding, specs for chocobo, chocobo AF and in-combat mechanics for them. Easier than creating different systems for different in-game elements.

    Personally, I'm sort of bummed that chocobo are the ONLY option for now. I would have liked the choice of chocobo, path companion or retainer/mercenary to aid you in combat. Additions like beastmen or even moogles aiding you also sound neat. I know it wouldn't be as in-depth as TOR's companion system was (companions having names, personalities and backstories), but it certainly would feel a little more alive than being limited to the yellow bird you ride on.

    Yes, I know, lolRP, but I have an easier time picturing my lalafell fighting alongside his path companion or his retainer.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
