    Probably because the initial conception for 14's classes was to keep as far away from traditional FF jobs as possible, hence the introduction of rarely used FF jobs like Gladiator or completely new jobs like Conjurer and Thaumatarge.

    When they later redeveloped the classes the only dagger wielding class (GLA), didn't exactly get stuck with Thief like abilities, and frankly most people thought it would turn out as a secondary job title to Pugilist. However there IS a few dagger types that aren't being used such as Kukuri, Edge, and perhaps Blade weapons which a Bandit/Thief Archtype could utilize.

    Either way they're reworking Monk in 2.0, so it might incline they're re-working it so there will be some distinction in abilities between THF and MNK if they choose to bring it into the game in the future.

    There was an interview a long time back that I'm not going to dig up where they said they are thinking of taking daggers from the sword line of glds and making a scout type class that would use two daggers and eventually become ninja. As for thief... I'm sure they said something about it before but eh not going to go look for it :P

    We don't have capes for the same reason we don't have long flowing hair. It's difficult to get right.

    Cape physics is actually not that bad. Hair has too many entities in funny shapes, a lot lag for little detail.

    I assume you meant physics because long flowing hair isnt bad if it had physics, its being so static and long (thus obvious) that makes it look bad.

    Capes would be sweet.
    And seeing them in other mmorpgs around, there is not an actual programming problem, especially when we'll have a totally new good engine. So, i expect to see them in the future as well.
