Yep. That's a huge pet peeve of mine too. I use the hell out of that search. Performance gains aren't there, it's not designed for desktops (whether it works for them is besides the point) and they've removed usability features such as the aforementioned start menu search (along with the start menu itself). Forget about it, I'm not installing it just because 7 < 8.
