Problem is that no matter what you do, you wont please everyone.
How many threads do you guys think we will see about "brink 1.0 back" ..... just wait and see.

We'll see plenty threads about it, initially out of missing 1.0 then because ARR will feel like the "same ole same ole", regardless of how badly it will fail or do ok, It was Yoshi's first attempt and he can only move up from that.
Besides the new grid zone, all I see are still empty fields (with hardly any flora..) lol
@Elexia still your points have no bearing on why korean mmo's cant be used as an example. Sure Tera flopped, but so did FFXIV, and honestly FFXI didnt do so hot either (sure its still going, SE fans are pretty hardcore - but its not extremely popular or some such).

That is what I AM AFFRAID.... like somone mentioned WoW has rich lore but fails MISERABLY at story telling.
Tell me.. how many of you really loved FFXI's story telling?
CoP was amazing and os was WotG. I loved that about 11 and So far the way the story is presented here is great.
WoW, Rift and those games are basically:
"go kill A mob and gather X number of horns etc" rinse and repeat.
Do we ant that in ARR?
Same feelings here. I guess this might sound weird to some people here, but I've been actually enjoying the game we currently have and latest content additions (last storyline fights, Garuda, AV and CC, Relic quest) have been the kind of things I enjoy doing in a MMORPG. I've especially enjoyed the long-term-goal type of character progression and the slower, more strategy style kind of battle system.
With every interview I read about 2.0 I'm losing a tiny bit of my hope for the new version. I'm afraid they're going to the wide audience general MMO type of direction, heading towards a field where they can't really compete. And at the same time, the game seems to be losing certain kind of play style, the thing that makes it enjoyable for me.
To me, game graphics and the artistic style are also very important things in a game. They were one of the biggest reasons I fell in love with the Final Fantasy series as a kid and they're something FF series can always have been proud of. 2.0 however seems to be below the MMO standard these days, and that makes me sad. I can't look at those screenshots and videos and think "oh, what a beautiful world, I can't way to explore it!" Instead I think "I hope it doesn't really look that bad". It might even be something that will make me quit the game (well, not continue in 2.0).
People are saying "well we knew graphics would get a downgrade". Well, I didn't. At least I couldn't expect anything like this. As Darkhaund wrote in the OP, it's two years after the release of 1.0, it doesn't make sense to me that they would take steps backward.
Does it please you to hear that they have added a substantial amount of new quests? That is what I AM AFFRAID.... like somone mentioned WoW has rich lore but fails MISERABLY at story telling.

That scared me.. whenever a company says that they usually mean - more cp.

That's what everyone is saying Evy, however those who say that are wrong for believing it because "It progresses the game so you should be perfectly fine with step backwards as long as the gameplay is better."
Gamers settle for less these days, which is why DLC is so popular. That shouldn't and wouldn't have flown when gaming was more than a cash grab.
Quest Grinding, this is exactly what it means. The same quest 720 times in each city and quest hub you visit.

I totally agree.
Final Fantasy has it nich core members but I THINK THAT given the recent financial problems SE is having and the "failures" of 13 and 14 they have to grab a larger audience and I think that is why they are making FF14 a more "generic" MMO.
Just as you, the more and more info they give out, the more I start to wonder if i will like it.
I also enjoy the game at it current state...
I dont want in ARR to have the SAME quest but with differnet "colors"
Uldah: go kill 10 coblyls
Grid: go kill 10 rabbits
limsa: go kill 10 bugs
rinse and repeat

This game is definitely going WoW direction bro. Quest to level= WoW, Its clear to see that SE is going the money hungry route.
Shougun GREAT FINDS, I'll be following those closely that desert game looks amazing with that combat style!Functional gameplay doesn't require bad graphics. It however may require a powerful computer, never does it mean you cant have gameplay.
SE may be out of resources to make better graphics however.
Upcoming mmos:

Not saying they should look exactly like those. But SE isnt as far as it thinks in "best graphics evaah MMO"
