RMT by others is here on a minor scale. If SE were to condone it and launch it themselves the game will become centralized around it, like D3 is.Are you confusing micro transaction with real money trade? RMT is already here, has been for a long time.. when people sell shit for 10 mil+, people will pay real cash for thier 10 mil.. would rather that cash go to the developers than some ilegal gil pedalar probably paying people cheap wages to farm it all day for him

.. that didnt answer anything.. could you explain how this would cost SE money yet implementing other ways to sink gil wouldn't? I think your brain cells are what need tweaked

I just read about that D3 legal in game RMT.. that has to be the most rediculous system I have ever seen.. that is not what is being asked of here, and I would say hell no to that in a heart beat.. nobody should profit RL cash off a game except the developers and investors

Because you'd be exchanging in game currency for something that could be used to pay for your subscription. This would cost them money.
Of course spending money developing content to sink the gil into like player housing isn't free either, but it also adds additional value to the game, and there are cheaper options available like nerfing NPC sell prices or raising transaction taxes.
I personally think that if it is done similar to the plex system in Eve it would work well. If you don't know how the plex system works: You use RL cash to purchase a sellable in game time card. That item can be sold to other players and the value of that item is completely determined by the economy. It makes it very difficult for RMT's to make any money off of the game when the people who have been going to the RMT's for gill now can do it in a way that wont get there accounts banned. Also SE makes money off the deal. I do understand that it presents a "pay to win" option but that is mostly effective for new players only, and you start making some in game money the the purchase more gill option begins to lose it's value. For example, after getting to a point in eve you could make enough in game currency in a day do pay for the timecard.
I could spend al day talking about all the reasons I love this system but I will leave it at the basics.
In short, I think it's a great tool against RMT's and it can be good for the in game economy. In my opinion the pro's greatly outweigh the cons.

Right, but what is proposed is the opposite of Plex. There's no reason for SE to do it unless they really want to pay out of pocket to remove gil from the economy, which would be odd.
I didn't post it but my main idea was to brainstorm how to make crysta similar to eve online plex system, and some of you guys is coming up with cool ideas on both sides. I think SE can do it right, if they follow eve online examples.
You mean that game that's notorious for people losing absurd amounts of real money when defeated by other players, only for the attacking player to almost always get none of it?
No. Just no.
Edit: Seriously, that's a freaking terrible idea, but maybe I just don't know enough about EVE to get what you're going for. Can anyone enlighten me? I'd really appreciate it.
