
Something like this most likely will happen, odds are we lose out because of it.Something ppl seem to be forgetting: The game will be offline for X amount of time. Servers will be split up (well, sort of. However you want to view it). Communities will change, a massive influx of new players, and your gil will be down, etc etc etc...
It should be fine. It really would be a relatively clean slate. Those items selling for $1m won't be able to remain $1m because only people who had $10m now could afford it. And so on, and so on. Those $25m triple meld items are not going to continue to sell for that.
Prices will be down. Maybe not 90% ... but significantly. The game being offline and having everything taken out of the wards and AH, and having price histories reset, will help people forget what items cost in 1.0 and let them start over in 2.0 with the new perceived value.
