This is all it says in the roadmap:
"Complete redesign of markets into a system incorporating retainers and auction house elements. Planned
for version 2.0."
So it sounds like a hybrid of both. For good or ill![]()

And why do you want SE to abandon the MW if all what SE need to do is to improve the search system (filter for +1 and materia)? The buying process does not work fine. Unless your definition of fine is going through every single ward looking for a good meld or even the right Materia.
Personally I'm sitting on the highest potency IV materias simply because it is too much of a paint to go ward by ward to doa price comparison. So shoppers are even missing out becasue there are others like me.
This has partially happened already. Buying functionality more or less works like an AH- needs some UI additions like different sort options for the item and sale lists, but it is useable. selling on the other hand, is still convoluted and is what needs a significant revamp.

Where did you read they abolish the MW for a generic AH?Wasn't it said we were getting an Auction House come 2.0? If the system with retainers still remains in the 2.0 and what else I been reading as far as which direction the game is taking...with some of the changes I read about. I don't feel like I will continue to play this game in the long run. They seem to be down grading the game down...it was looking up but now that they are telling us more in details just seems like shit. I am hoping to get into the beta to give the game a shot as well of course play at launch to test it. I been paying through the shit times and with 2.0 I feel like it's been a waste but I do hope I am wrong. The major change that I was looking for in 2.0 was the Auction House and how SE would put its own twist on it.
From the 2.0 pdf
There it is written. A MW with AH elements. Not moreComplete redesign of markets into a system incorporating retainers and auction house elements. Planned for version 2.0.
All what it still need is more functions in the search system for the buyer and a function to see the prices in the retainer menu for the sellers.

Agreed. They need to go back to not showing what the current items are bein gsold for, and showing only what the last XX amount of said item sold for. I mean, undercutting will always be an issue but its harder to do when you can't see what the current items are being sold for in real time. This has partially happened already. Buying functionality more or less works like an AH- needs some UI additions like different sort options for the item and sale lists, but it is useable. selling on the other hand, is still convoluted and is what needs a significant revamp.
To me at least, the economy is one of the largest hurdles 2.0 will have to clear in order to make the transition from dead, poorly planned MMO, to a successful and healthy MMO. And how they redo the current market system is at the heart of it.
So what are the retainers good for anymore if the selling horror gets fixed to be in the same handy menu and buying?
I literally don't see any reason for them to exist.

But what's your argument? I believe that SE should have the search function in the retainer's menu, hence improving time for those gamers who feels that the retainers waste their time. Which would eliminate the back and forth. You should ask your retainer for prices, item search, NQ, HQ.

I'm not going to lie the MW system grew on me. It's quite quaint actually. I do think the search options and the overall user experience need to be expanded on but I have no issue with the MW system being continued in 2.0.
It would be great if you could access your retainer from your moghouse and give him/her things to sell from there.

only thing the need with retainers better catagory sorting and add find HQ's.
there both the same thing but a AH has a time limit you can sell for and it cost each time you put up for auction who know if there gonna tax it. all MMO's have crappy economy's this wont be any different because people are greedy plain and simple.

Hm. What do Auction Houses have that Market Wards don't?They're the same system. Unless you can explain to me why an Auction House would be better WITHOUT stating:
1. A search feature (Market Wards does this.)
2. Listing who's selling (Market Wards does this, only it's the retainers.)
3. Price history. (Market Wards does this.)
4. How many up (Market Wards does this.)
5. Buying from search (Market Wards does this.)
So feel free to explain why an Auction House system would be superior to this, as we already know they're making adjustments to it for 2.0 to separate the HQ/Meld listings from NQ listings. Also don't even lie and say people want to "bid" because when people say Auction House we're not talking FFIX style bidding, we're talking opening an interface and buying flatout, this is what the majority of people are referring to, which the market wards does.
Oh you know what else they do most AH's doesn't? Buy items for you.
Accessibility and ease of use.
Don't try and tell me that putting up items on Final Fantasy XIV is easier or just as easy as putting items on the Auction House in WoW or GW2... Or Rift.. or TERA..
You'd be blatantly lying if you tried :P
-- Take away the useless NPCs standing around the wards, and then make it easier to deposit items.
I'll have no complaints after that.
I think after a while (playing FFXIV) you get used to the unfriendly aspects of the game and they don't seem so bad.. until you play something else (Aion, EVE Online, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Guild Wars 2, The Secret World) and realise how stupid it actually is.
