Whoever created the idea for this event should be fired, or at the least re-assigned to a team that has nothing to do with creating battle events. This Imperial invasion event is a giant step backwards for this game.

Oh get over it. There's shit they can do with this faulty game which is why they're rebuilding it to begin with. There's no step backwards, if you notice the "step forward" is handing everyone everything for even doing nothing (You're silly if you believe everyone participates in fighting Atomos even if they could lol.)
If you say that's better design then you're straight up looney.

At least people don't MPK each other to steal claim on Atomos. IMO that makes it x100 betterOh get over it. I dont get why ppl complain about everything. Do people understand by doing this confuses the developers. If you cry about every single thing SE does why even attempt ARR. I read the forums because I like to read about new things developing not to read a bitch~fest because someone can't get a cap. This is not a democracy, SE rewards players that are resourceful and work hard! Seriously what is the alternative? Why even do events? Let's just line up at a NPC and get the hats handed to us! Quit crying it's annoying.
Keep up the good work SE.

I never even mentioned Atomos, you did. So obviously you have problems with that. I could care less if those hats came from this. The way it is now just doesn't make most people even want to do it. The previous Imperial invasion event was executed better than this. IMO, this is a step backward from what was done before. I hope you like people dragging 20 mobs on top of your group to mpk you.Oh get over it. There's shit they can do with this faulty game which is why they're rebuilding it to begin with. So it doesn't matter how mangled, deformed, and mutilated the content is as long as they try, that's surely an attitude conducive with a good video game. Logic is pretty overrated, after all.I dont get why ppl complain about everything. Do people understand by doing this confuses the developers. No, content that doesn't meet the basest amount of player requirements should be admonished and corrected. It's the only way Square will know what they are doing wrong, because it's readily apparent they are flailing about in the dark with quite a few things. This event is objectively bad, and many people have already listed logical, inflammatory reasons as to why. It really does pit party against party, creates a general apathy, even malice towards helping out your peers if they aren't in your group because hey, it's not like you're going to be rewarded in the slightest for your efforts anyway. As far as skill goes, in this particular scenario it is nonexistent, with the utter chaos happening all around you. And if you're not directly on top of your party, the abomination known as Crystal Tools likely will not load them up, even if they are only 30 yalms away, so you have no idea how they are doing. This isn't even getting to enemies that haven't loaded up on your screen eviscerating you with weaponskills and attacks, so coordination becomes nigh impossible.
Alternatives have already been established too. Letting the trash mobs, that are only there to annoy Disciples of Land and force them to use Stealth for the entirety of the Imperial invasion have a small chance to drop hats is a good idea. Having a world chest appear after the Elites/H-1 is dead exactly like goddamn Atomos is another good one, one in which we know works. Multiple different Elite groups spawning in a zone at once is also an option. Simply put, there are a myriad of ways to make this work better, and the dev team seemingly did not possess the mental faculties to pursue them. The crux of the content is not bad, per se, but the way it was executed was beyond meager. This is what people are complaining about, and they should be. It can become good content if they heed the words of their subscribers, or it can remain another failed idea, like speed running dungeons.

Nanaya you pretty much hit the nail on the head. It's bad enough we are "lagging for gear" with atomos. Muchless same thing + worse for a chance to claim and a smaller chance to get a hat.

A LS mate has a "theory" that killing trash mobs makes your hat drop rate higher. He hasn't proven it though...
but it sounds kind of silly they've put so many trash mobs for no reason doesn't it?

They are called 'thrash' mobs for a reason.
