It's actually not a valid argument because it really depends on the game. Not every game plays the same way. Also, EVE Online? You couldn't pick a game further away from FFXIV as an example. He said OTHER games do it all the time (as in there are games other than FFXIV that do it, including his full explanation on EVE which you completely skipped like you did with every valid argument), not ALL games do it.
Again, quit twisting what other people are saying to your benefit.
Go read Aenarion's post on how EVE also requires low latency and how it achieved it's current global server system. You very obviously didn't or you wouldn't have replied in such an uninformed manner.
And funny you say that because your friend up there used Team Fortress 2 as an example, which is even FURTHER away from FFXIV as an example.
But please continue to selectively nitpick bits and pieces of our sentences to your benefit for absolutely no reason.
Not every game plays the same? Than why does FFXIV have to play like all the rest and use the same limited regional system?
See, I can make gross generalisations too.

On the Forums NOBODY IS RIGHT even me! Because you know why? Because all of us have opinions! XD Except the Devs they hold the truth, but they don't really count :P.
You were saying?

Regional datacenters will help to bring in new players. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, those against regional datacenters are just plain silly.
Although, I do like the idea of giving players the option of choosing a global server. However, I doubt serious players and end-game Linkshells will choose a global server.

Just because someone is on my server doesn't mean I am friends with them. You're right, TF2 is a horrible example as well. I'll read his post with an open mind, but my opinion won't change. It still doesn't change the fact that they are two completely different games in the way they are structured and that the JP don't even give two ficks about playing with english speakers in the majority.Go read Aenarion's post on how EVE also requires low latency and how it achieved it's current global server system. Also, whose to say that the players won't just pick an unofficial international server and that the latency on it wont be horrible enough to affect gameplay? These are all assumptions by me, you, and everyone else. We will find out eventually. However, if you want a diverse server, it looks like you'll need to create your own opportunity to do so.
Should just open a Global or International server, then open up a cash shop that sells a pass to transfer to a different server with the use of Crysta, for that they'll make that useless currency useful.
Plus i need to hunt cute women outside my world woot woot!
I don't care about them all that much either, there are other regions that are not JP. I want to play with both my NA and EU friends, not specifically the Japanese.
I wouldn't mind that at all, but why not just take the next logical step and have SE label 2 or 3 of them as Global/International* and call it a day? Also, whose to say that the players won't just pick an unofficial international server and that the latency on it wont be horrible enough to affect gameplay? *Be advised Global/International servers may experience slightly higher latency due to the related data centers being based in Japan. Please take note of this when choosing a Global/International server.
Would it bother you that much? You could still pick your regional labeled server and none of this would affect you or the others in any way.
