Both are equally creepy.Well, isn't it pretty much the same with catgirls and guys wanting to play them? You shouldn't fixate on the yaoi part too much. Else we could also start debating about yuri catgirls :P
As for me, I would play a female miqo'te (I actually did so in beta) but this time I wanted to go for a male character. And I <3 cats no matter the gender, so playing a male miqo'te could be something new and interesting. Oh yeah, I'm male.

We'll never get a "final answer" until they're implemented. I mean, do we really expect "final answers" for the content of expansion pack IV in 2017? Of course not. They can only tell us what they're working on now, and just because more genders may not be currently in the works doesn't mean they can't say in a year or two, "Hey, you know what? Let's add catboys."
There's tons of examples of MMO developers initially denying the implementation of something, only for a couple expansions and a few years later to go ahead and add it. For example, Blizzard insisted for years that they had no plans and were not considering implementing old world flying, and lo and behold, Cataclysm brought us old world flying.
Just not sure why we have an 88 page topic begging for "final" answers for a question that simply can't be answered with finality. I've got hope for more genders and character creation options myself, but it's a little absurd to ask for the final answer, when the best they can do is, "We have plans to/We don't have plans to at this time."
"Everyone is tired of waiting for improvements, and being made to feel like we expect too much when everyone else in the gaming world gets the freaking job done."

I think as time goes on the likeliness of them adding the missing genders will decrease due to lore.
The game is new right now. In a year it'll still be fairly new. But them showing up suddenly after 4 years would be odd, and very unlikely in my opinion. "Why have they been missing so long?" SE might add lore to give us a reason why they don't show up.
I think putting them in this year or next would be best. While the game is still new - while it makes sense.
As it is, it feels like we're in beta right now.
Perhaps the first big expansion could add them if they have time.
All we want IS the best they can do. All we want to know is if they have plans to add them, and more specifically if they have plans to add them as playable. It's a simple yes or no.Just not sure why we have an 88 page topic begging for "final" answers for a question that simply can't be answered with finality. I've got hope for more genders and character creation options myself, but it's a little absurd to ask for the final answer, when the best they can do is, "We have plans to/We don't have plans to at this time."
No one's really picky on when it happens.
Especially since the development team and producer/director changed, their answer may very well have changed or become less vague.

I found that interview where they talk about the missing gender's character models being done, enjoy
http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/1598-...omichi-tanaka/
yeah, but that just says the designs are done, not the models. having artists renders / characteristic details finished and actual 3d models completed are two different things.
oh, I do wants them but 3d models + textures + animations will take a while.
it would be nice for SE to come out and say "yes we will" so we know that they are actually working on it instead of just developing them in stealth mode, if/when the do start working on them ... I kind of think that we will actually get them this time around, but still: keep bumping this baby till SE caves.

Oh ya i completely agree with you, who knows what stage in the development process they actually got to, hopefully pretty far :P. I just wanted to add another interview that mentioned the missing genders to the pileyeah, but that just says the designs are done, not the models. having artists renders / characteristic details finished and actual 3d models completed are two different things.

I don't see them using that style. SE doesn't do Dimorphism much in any of their games. And that would be way too Dimorphic.yeah, but that just says the designs are done, not the models. having artists renders / characteristic details finished and actual 3d models completed are two different things.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Well, many will agree that Roegadyns will probably be quite dimorphic. So to say, a female roegadyn will still be "bulky", but in a different way from her male counterpart.

I want a Male Miqote! (I want to play as him, but not to have him))
