i am wondering if it was not primary the server and client structure which causes the very heavy delay.. much more than the distance itself.. i mean what we experience now at atomos with teleport delay.. thats the cause of the servers itself, and not the distance.

i mean i played some MMorpgs on asian and japan servers as well.. without any delay.. im not really sure if it needs data centers, when we get a new game client and new servers with new structures.

i think SE is making a mistake with that. there is really no need for it. as we could see when yoshida played at Gamescom (Germany/europe) on a japan server without ANY delay...

that means its not about the distance.. its about the new client and server.

Most endgame linkshell now at days have over 80% of NA players with a few mix. Same goes i guess for EU so does it really matter? you may lose a few friends because they want to be in EU or JP worlds will then you make new once just had them to your friend list so in 2.0 you can talk to them and you may even see them in dungeon finder.

It suck losing friends but it's up too you want lag? or want to be with a few friends.

my opinion is, that we will lose lag because of the new game client and server structure anyway, and there is no need for data centers.

look at the gamescom demo which was played on japan servers. (fluently!) and games like Phantasy Star Online 2 (also japan server)

the data centers are a result of people who QQ'd about the lag and who said "its because the server are located in japan" which maybe is not that true.
sure the connection will become slightly better, but i think it was not the main problem which we experience now.

the source code of the game just seem to suck. like the server itself.
