It's not dress up. They announced that chocobo's that you breed will have jobs a while ago. The fact that they are also giving them gear to identify what job they are is just a plus. It's just like the companions in XI, except they'll be chocobo's.

For me that is pretty important. NPCs like Minfillia looked pretty lame. Must have been worse for players who chose the same build.

As weird as it is..some people actually care for the RPG element of an MMORPG, which includes NPCs they grow to like, cuz you know, story.

I am not shocked people care what npc's look like, rather, I was commenting on how someone would think that they would change the entire game, set it in the future, yet leave all the still living npc's we know looking the exact same? If they change everything else, it would seem pretty obvious they would change that too. Was all I meant.
