You have to drop the gear off at your armoury for this to work, so gear on your person would still take up inventory space, worn or not (as it does at the moment), and this gear could still be equipped manually or by macro if necessary.

Your armoury is initially limited to a couple of dozen spaces, but can be increased through quests that are unlocked by levelling up in different classes and/or by crafted expansions to your housing, as mentioned.
So my cactuar house will have the items in it, and the gear on me will take up inv space no matter what. But if I end up getting 100/100 and try to equip a different set teleported by my enthusiastic cactuar, It will fail to equip everything. I think its better if gear doesnt take inv space as they have it.

I personally don't like this option either.

There's many instances I can think of. One that comes to mind is If I have a gear set for my BSM that utalizes a Dodore Doublet then I can't also have that item on my ALC or ARM.

If they mean that it's strictly for the same class. I don't think in many cases a DRG with Gae Bolg would want to have a different weapon in most second builds...

There might be times where main hand would differ for mages... but most cases I can see this just being a hassle.

No, I meant the gear equipped through your armoury will not take up inventory space and you wouldn't be able to remove it into your inventory except at your armoury.

I only factored that in so that if you were out in the field and got a new piece of equipment, you could equip it without it having to be part of a gear set. Basically, gear in your armoury only exists in your armoury; gear in your inventory only exists in your inventory.

People wanted manequins and thats basically what they are getting, as far as I know you can't have the same item in 2 separeted manequins.

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

Right and thats the problem with the system as it stands. If I switch classes I don't want to be messing with equipping slots. I want it to be a one click no hassle switch. Which it sounds like they can do but "want to get player feedback on this".

It would probably be good for them to include saving equipment in a secondary fassion, like by class. People are more likely to use equipment sets for battle classes, but there are only 7 of those. The 11 other classes would end up being left out. I think we should be able to save sets by tool/weapon equipped as well. So if you equip a tool, the armor you last had equipped to it will be automatically equipped as well.

what! went back and read what was said, that is not acceptable, gear set cannot be linked directly to class/job, that will be nightmare rare/ex even more so, but even crafted HQ gear! I thought we'd have like 6 gear sets #1-6, not per class...

i do suppose there is up side that people will have to concentrate on few jobs now.

edit: might also be good for markets all those belts and other items not part of AF gear sets

That was how FFXI worked but there was no set feature to keep the item from your inventory.

Basically your job would attempt to re-equip everything you last had on it when you switched previously, so long as that item was still in your inventory, you would be wearing it again without any need to put it back on.

I do agree though, every class needs a set. Atleast 1.
