    The 5 skill limitation is pure speculation. We've already seen new spells for WHM and BLM in that trailer as well as new WS for other jobs so unless those are simply new animations for old spells/WS we're getting more in 2.0
    We may be getting 4 primals for other reasons not related to ability limits at all. We don't even know how pets are summoned yet.

    if i learned anything from ffxi, it's that people who play summoner are never ever happy.

    the conclusion or how i got to it is that Arcanist is Debuffer-DoT type class but SMN is not a debuffer or even a DoT job so they will take a few spells abilities hence that smn cant use carbuncle or more specifically cant summon it by his side. so takig into consideration that SMN will not have carbuncle and isnt a Debuffer or dot job that means they are taking these from arcanist when u switch to SMN. So that means they are cutting down the abilities of the class if you are a job making you as a job have less abilities which makes no sense to me atleast and they will attempt to make a balance. imagine a BLM in ARR without Sanguine rite or even without the Necro abilitiy (forget its name).

    plus the way they remove class abilities when u change to a job makes a total sense for "Class to Job diversities". For example they introduce thf as part of the GLD path but remove Sentinel rampart flash tempered will war drum and outmaneuver (i know i listed six abilities) but at the same time they exchange these with 6 abilities that define the thf job.

    i know its a complex because i myself not a very good at words english isnt my native language after all but i do share ur worries if they will be attack spells which breaks the whole concept for SMN as a pet class

    am pretty aware of that but what i meant is restricting 5 abilities from arc that smn cant use when u switch to smn like "Summon carbuncle" or "Slow" or "poison" which in the end adds more job abilities to smn if they wanted to.

    for instance imagine DRK coming out of GLA but that DRK cant use the tanking abilities from gla making SE having to give DRK more abilities to counter that thing

    This is, to a degree, some justification to claiming that we will still be at 5 Job abilities on ARR release. Obviously, without the final wordtvtropes warning, it's too early to tell. However, the fact that the achievements for completing the Job quest lines are not going away strongly implies to me that they are not going to make any major changes to those quests in ARR. Now, that doesn't mean they can't tack on a few extra quests at the end; though I think that would be somewhat forced.

    Certainly, I hope that there are more abilities to play, with for classes and jobs, but until we know more, it's best to assume that things will not change too much.

    Why 1 Skill = 1 Pet? Could be 1 Skill = Summon any Pet. Or a totally different control panel for the Pet Class. Could be anything actually.

    Like Summoner could have several Pets based on Ifrit. Like Summoner could summon parts of a Primal to crush enemies just like Bayonetta does with Madame Butterfly. Maybe you will assign a Pet to keyboard keys. Maybe this, maybe that.

    Maybe too many early "could" in this thread compared to the little information we have.

    We know practically nothing at all about how Arcanist and Summoner actually work, I suggest we wait on such details before proclaiming it a disappointment for pet class lovers. Also, it's incredibly likely that we'll get more pet classes considering Beastmaster is one of those FF jobs it would be hard for them to leave out in an online iteration.

    The "5 skill limitation" could be worked around easily if the summons are persistent and we use skills to make them do certain attacks. Said skills could change depending on the summon that is currently out. It wouldn't make sense, to me, if they weren't persistent because then each summon would really only have one "attack" if there's four of them.
