From what i have gathered from what yoshi has been saying, we will have 4 summon types to choose from. It has also been said that there are differet pet types.
As a smn you will lose carby but gain the other summons. I think what will happen is your arcanist/summoner abilities relating to pets will change depending on which one you have out.
Just as an example, all debuffs have an associated element. So for instance, t
You have typhon out you get silence. You have the earth type you get heavy amd slow etc.
As far as summoner not having an actual pet i dont think thats gonna happen. Yoshi has repeatedly said we will have different pets that house the "essence" of the associated primal. It was also said to start there will be 4, with only ifrit a d garuda essences confirmed at the moment.
I believe youre going to have to equip a gemstone to access a different pet. Somewhat si
Ar to ff9.

I was under the impression that you could summon any one of the four primal infused summons and that each summon had 4 or 5 spells from which you could choose concluding that they would be permanent entities or perhaps on a time limit rather than one big flashy spell. I'm pretty sure it's in the hour long video.
are you disappointed about the announcement as well? First i was "aaww freaking awesome"... but then i was like... "oooh just 4 prime versions, why? no shiva? no ramuh to summon?" then i was like "oh maybe they just end up as super animated spells in the end?"
i know that its maybe too early to talk about that.. but i dislike the first impressions and informations we got so far.
Also how are you able to complain about not having shyva or ramuh to summon? These primals weren't even mentioned. Matter of fact Yoshi confirms that ifrit and garuda would be 2 of the 4 summons but the other 2 have yet to be released. Those OTHER TWO summons COULD be shyva and ramuh but here you are making assumptions about what will and wont be in the future.
Honestly where the heck do you get your information from? The summoner class wont be released at the launch of ARR anyway, only the arcanist is projected to be relased by then. That leaves a whole lot of time for the implementation of future primals such as shyva and ramuh and for all we know they just *might* be the other two unmentioned summons.
You are right, it is too early to talk about it. But you sir are just drawing conclusions out of thin air. I dislike your attitude.
The assumption here being that Summoner will be a Job and Arcanist the Class to which it belongs. From the beginning I always thought this was the most logical and natural transition of these job/classes (though I would have prefered Beast Master Class -> Summoner Job to be honest)From what i have gathered from what yoshi has been saying, we will have 4 summon types to choose from. I think yoshida explained it as an essence of the primal because the real primal will be summoned by the free companies.

I just want to say you guys are assuming way to much over only one drawing.
That ifrit we see could be the summoning animation and after that it stay as a pet avatar.
Also you are saying that you have 5 skills per class to summon and thinking that 4 of them will be to summon each avatar but why it couldn't be that you have only one skill to summon and you choose which one you want after using the skill?
Well what i mean is don't make assumption over small thinks, wait to have more info to be disappointed.![]()
I'm the Princess of the Night~~

For jobs, I'd rather have them cut the cross-class abilities and add more job unique skills. The jobs are supposed to be super specialized, it's the focus of classes to be generalists.
I, too, expect more summons sometimes down the road when more content and Primals get introduced. I want to tap in their power... all of them! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
We should probably wait to call something a "whole disappointment" when everything we can say about it at this point starts out with "it seems like."
Wrong. It's still a pet job. The pets simply aren't primals.it looks like they will be just "essences" of the big primaes and end up as super animated one-hit attack spell?
This is only a technical limitation of the 1.0 system. They will be able to make more Job actions in ARR.For jobs, I'd rather have them cut the cross-class abilities and add more job unique skills. The jobs are supposed to be super specialized, it's the focus of classes to be generalists.
If you want to discuss what you think the summoner should be like, than thats what you should say on the OP, not make wild assumptions and misinterpretations of what is actually known.i know that this thread is about making assumptions. and what your opinion is about what the summoner should be like.

I wont comment on speculations, but I will say that the AF looks cool.

It's such a massive disappointment I haven't even played it yet!
