Yoshi already stated they arent changing the realms to avoid confusion, its pretty evident the regional servers are going to be mirrors that connect to who is closest while being global.

I have no idea what you're talking about, so I will just smile and nod and go on my merry way. In retrospect though it wouldn't make sense to put so much work into auto-trans if they were planning on segregation. I would prefer segregation, as elexia pointed out it just makes sense. With the reduction of latency and the implementation of a better auto-translation function (which still needs much improvement), playing with Japanese won't be so bad.

Im just slightly confused. Say im connecting to the NS server, and playing from NA.
Wouldn't the NA server still need to connect to the main server?
And wouldnt that give us lag?
Or is it going to be something in terms of ifrit's cracks being calculated by the NA server, and it only connecting to the main one to stay in synch?

( Center point being Japan location of FFXIV Servers), but when you connect to say NA data center (server) which is closest to me. I can still play with the people of Japan because that data center is linked to the data center in Japan.

Also, yes, Data Centers are basically "regional servers" but only in the sense you'll access the data from them rather than the Japanese servers.

It wasn't even lost in translation, it's just people interpreting it their own way really.
