The line are done by Google, I didn't trace them myself. They are made to calculate distance, not to explain people how peering is supposed to work.

As for the latency itself, Melbourne to Tokyo is roughly 150ms with an average consumer line. Again, distance means nothing.

I was surprised actually... I consistently dodge Ifrit (Hard) without problems. However I tried Ifrit (Extreme) for my first time... a plume sprung up, I got off it and started casting a cure then it blew me up.

I am looking forward to the fixes 2.0 will bring.

If you want me to educate you further I'll require payment. Any simple Google search can disprove that ridiculous statement. You're arguing with me over the laws of physics.

I'll give you one last free lesson though. The term "peering" has nothing to do with what we're talking about. The only peering that is done in FFXIV is with updates. Read up: here

I can do what ever I want. If someone is smart enough to comply or not is their own problem.

I think that more depends on where you're located. Generally speaking if in any of the three regions you mentioned you are situated closed to a major city you will have access to better internet.

For example in Melbourne Australia I found this: https://www.telstra.com.au/online-sh...-broadband.cfm
Very comparable to what is offered where I live, and 100mbps isn't a slow connection speed. However, I've heard that Japan does have cheaper access to fiber optics, but that's second hand.

I've actually done Ifrit numerous times, and a lot of the time, by the time a crack appears on my screen, it's already too late to move. The crack appears, I react, the crack then blows. I'm seeing it a second after it appears for others that are closer to the western side of the US. So yes, this is a legitimate problem and I ask that you take your elitist attitude elsewhere.

It's a shame if true I will miss the global servers that made XI and XIV unique. I'm not sure what server I will play on my play time varies greatly and I'm going to be shafted because of it.

Not really considering you will be able to use the dungeon/raid finder to queue cross server.

As someone who very recently moved from Japan back to the eastern side of the US, I have noticed barely any difference in latency of any sort. Everyone knows the biggest problem with Ifrit is the horrible coding behind the scenes and in the very server structure. To break apart one of the biggest draws of this game, that is the wonderful community and chance to play with people outside of your cultural norm, is a very big mistake. I really hope that SE does not cave in and force us into a close minded structure.
