This makes me happy. Thank you for common sense square enix. To all the people calling me racist because I wanted better latency, you can suck a bag of poky sticks. There's a difference between racism and common sense! Hurray to no longer feeling inadequate in the eyes of uber skilled (or is it uber pinged) gaijin haters.

Period. Yes latency is a problem, but can you continue to blame it for your inability to dodge? No.

Ignorance at it's finest.

You can't possibly sit there with a straight face after having done 100+ Ifrits and say "Nobody in my parties has ever failed to dodge cracks or attacks." It's impossible. I've done well over 100+ ifrits, probably far more than that, and while most of the time it's peachy-keen, there is ALWAYS someone who is unable to dodge cracks properly because of latency issues. With servers located only in Japan while the rest of the world is forced to connect directly to it, there ARE going to be prevalent problems with latency.

The only way to avoid the latency issue is somehow dodge far ahead of the crack before it forms.. and to my knowledge, there aren't people who can see flashes of the future. So, take your own advice (sig relevant) and don't plug your ears to the truth.

Actually in Australia we get less latency connecting to an American server than a Japanese server.

That's technologically and geographically impossible.

It isn't flight distance, just distance in general. For Example, I have a 100 mbps connection speed, and am located in Detroit, MI. Here is my connection results for Chicago, Il (relatively close):



And here are the results of my connection speed to Seattle, WA (much further away):

Other frequent factors influencing throughput:

The number of devices sharing the access circuit and the activity the other devices are generating while speed test is being run on one of the devices

A rogue LAN port that is clogging the LAN with transmission

A leaky LAN port which degrades LAN performance

LAN signaling issues which create a lot of packet re-transmission for the devices on the LAN

LAN Router with performance issues, low processing power or Deep Packet Inspection and advanced
security features like URL blocking enabled

Wireless Access Points on the LAN side

Distance (both geographical as well as number of hops) between the speed testing client and the server

The path packets take to reach the destination server isn't the shortest. Bonus, the more nodes, the more chance for packetloss issues, latency increase etc. So distance doesn't mean anything in many cases. Off course if you live 50km off the server location, yes your latency can only be good...

You just made yourself look foolish. The picture I posted of Australia is accurate, France or any place in Europe for that matter was never discussed. How do you propose to use something totally off subject to disprove my facts?
