    SE is not a poor studio Mishakai, they have money and means to produce their games.
    You have to see that there is a huge difference between a game made by this company and one made by most random studios out there. Most of the others are funded by some investors who will give them massive pressure and in worst case do damage control, sell the technology and hardware and shut everything down (happens often with games)
    In this case however SE is funding the game, if the launch did not work out, they simply will keep working on it till its done.
    Most of the team members for this project at this current state are in-house (i assume) they are on SE payroll regardless.

    This is a multimillion dollar project with high expectations on future revenue, also it is a title of the FF series, SE will not let it stand as a failure, be assured.

    They are still a business, they still have multiple projects, and each of those projects has a budget.

    If they don't have an incoming revenue stream, then they have four places to get the money:
    1) Box sales.
    2) Shift funding from another project.
    3) Dip into your quarterly profits.
    4) Take out a loan.

    Yes, they are a large company with the means to produce their game, but at the end of the day, they are a publicly traded company that has investors to answer to, and those investors don't necessarilly care about the history of the FF IP, they care about quarterly profit.

    They also refunded us during the first few months due to instability and poor playability.

    Also FFXI has been funding SE's projects since 2005.

    Indeed, I've been playing Square and Enix games since the 1980s, people don't understand that if none of their projects have failed before (not even Mystic Quest was a "bad" FF game.) XIV isn't going to fail, it's just gamer's today are too...well.

    FFXIV had a ton of branding deals with PC manufacturers at launch. Those deals aren't small money. I'm quite inclined to say, actually, that something like that probably brought in more cash than subs fees from the Japanese-only playerbase before the NA release in FFXI (minus the second month that was waived because of the state of the game).

    Do not worry, they will be able to pay the team some extra months.
    You do not need to be concerned for SE in that regard.
    fixing the game is lesser evil than abandoning 5-6 years of development, server costs, company image damage and a complete fail within the FF series.
    Once fixed a good MMO can produce exorbitant revenues, constantly, monthly over many years.

    i understand that the level of frustration of those few people who are left to post on the forums are high but there is no need to predict the end of the world over a rushed release

    this "it will be good when its been redesigned" reminds me a lot of "it'll be good in beta" "it'll be good in openbeta" "it'll be good on release" "it'll be good on ps3 release(when it was march)"

    Can you please post/quote official SE statements telling us, promising us that the game will be better in open beta, then on release, then on ps3?
    You see, there is a difference between random people voicing their hopes and the company officially stating that they will FIX and make the game fun.

    Alpha/Beta testing =/= redesigning, both are different concepts.

    One is testing and finishing a set design.

    The other is changing that design because the previous design didn't work.
