On a serious note, I can't make myself contort what we know about the 7th Umbral Era resolution into an alternate dimension story. It has never been said outright, but in the ARR trailers, lore, etc, it has always been implied that we would be sent into the future in order to reclaim the world after the devastation. That's not something we can do if we are sent into another dimension.
