The grand finale for the Seventh Umbral Era is scheduled to hit the current version of FINAL FANTASY XIV on November 11, 2012—an event that coincides with the servers being taken down. As well as serving story purposes, these measures are necessary for locking down save data and transferring your character data over to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.

The character data preserved during the final save maintenance for the current version (scheduled for November 1, 2012) is the data that will be transferred to the new version. (Logistically speaking, it will require more than a month to convert the data for our players’ several hundred thousand characters.)

This schedule is the basis for our 4th Players’ Poll. Before you answer, however, please read and be aware of the conditions below:

1. Any play data after November 1, 2012, will not be transferred to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
2. Certain story elements will contradict events from the Seventh Umbral Era finale.
3. There will be no further patches or bug fixes (although GM calls will be available).
4. Players with an active subscription as of September 30, 2012 can play for free.

Game data will be saved as you play, but will not be transferred to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Any character data will be rolled back to the data saved on November 1, 2012.

Just a one question poll. Have to be logged in, so limited to active accounts. From the response in the other thread discussing this, 'No' appears to be the general opinion. I am interested to know if they will post the results with the breakdown between regions.

I vote "no". I willing not to play FFXIV 1.0 for the sake of full development and concentration of "A Realm Reborn" than they maintain FFXIV 1.0 up

I said yes, primarily to talk to friends while the game is offline if they would choose to play, and it wouldn't affect ARR because there will be no patches, just the servers running.

Didn't he say that running the servers wouldn't slow the process?

Regardless of whether he did or didn't.. I'm pretty sure running them wouldn't impact on the release date ^^;

I voted yes! Because if people still want to log on and talk to people/hang out, then why be a jerk and stop them?

It's not about being jerks but if a giant ball of doom crashes on the surface it'd really ruin the whole thing if people could still log in after the fact. It's also completely pointless as no progress is saved and there are other ways to keep in touch with your friends (Skype,MSN,Facebook,forums,etc.).
I'm sure many just want to move on and forget about 1.0.

Said no. I'd rather they just get on with the job. Anything that'll hold even a single developer or techie back for an hour isn't worth it IMO.
