remember back when Fenrir first came out... ohhhh the good old days... but yeh the battle system reminds me of Aion for some reason even the equipment screen x__x we just have to have our fingers crossed for smn though~Summoner was my main in FFXI back when it first released with RoZ in 2003. People used to laugh at me because no one understood SMN and kept saying it sucked..especially the JP lol. I always stuck with it though, before the CoP mainstream of smn!
Anyway...smn sounds really promising in XIV. I like how they are giving us dots so we don't just stand there while our avatar does all the work. I have no idea how its going to work..if its like Aion thats cool too...Spiritmaster was really powerful
"Thy life is a river to bear rapture and sorrow
To listen to suffer to entrust until tomorrow
In one fleeting moment, from the land doth life flow
Yet in one fleeting moment for the new leaf doth grow"
I would like the ability to toggle between AI modes and to issue commands. For instance, have a guard mode, where your pet won't attack unless you attack or something attacks you (this will be the default.) An aggressive mode, where your pet attacks everything (although I would hardly use this, if at all.) And a passive mode, where your pet does nothing or avoids combat. Also, besides the AI portion just to be able to issue commands to your pet via button, action bar or macro: /pet "action" <t>
I'm hoping the pet attack is controlled by an attack action (like archer light shot) considering control of emnity is a pretty huge thing in this game. It would also be nice to have half of the skills control the pet and half of the skills control the character.
That's just me tho. I usually don't play pet classes because the player does nothing but stand around.
EDIT: On the other hand, I'd like pets/companions like battle chocobos or path companions to have an AI of themselves. Really I want to control my summons/puppets.
When all else fails, Heck the Bed.
Considering BLM have a lot of MP, I have no doubt SMN will have more than BLM. Perpetuation cost might be meaningless if the cost is not high enough to match their large mp pool.Well, I'm wondering if having a summon out will drain your MP like it did in FFXI. Unless as an Arcanist, you have an invisible set of Carbuncle Mitts so you can keep Carbuncle out. I'm thinking it's going to be like that as the summons come out of the grimoire and not the energy that you have inside of you. I could be wrong, though.
If the dev team does end up making it like FFXII, I hope they make a compatibility system similar like GF in FFVIII which allow faster casting, boost your stats, and should allow the pet to stay outside longer the more you fight with it.
just speculating of course.
No point of having prep cost just makes the class bad like it was in XI. Only thing they need to do is balance the dmg pet and master do and let it stay out as long as the smn wants.Considering BLM have a lot of MP, I have no doubt SMN will have more than BLM. Perpetuation cost might be meaningless if the cost is not high enough to match their large mp pool.

I hope they don't update the image with a screenshot/3D model. I rather like Akihiko's art.![]()
