I don't mind guys that play female characters or vice versa. I just have this habit of referring to people with their character's gender until I find out otherwise. I've found myself referring to a decent number of guys as "she". It's hillarious when I get corrected.

Also, I am male and gay and play male midlander. But that's just me.

Eh, that's the best way in my opinion. Quite frankly unless someone tells me not to, I use the character's gender to determine pronouns even after finding out the player behind it's gender. It just feels very strange doing otherwise, like I'm trying to make out their character is the one that's not the gender they appear. .. Not that that's wrong either, 's just the majority of the time it isn't the case >.>

I play male and female characters. I find it strange that males playing females get treated differently sometimes. Males playing females sometimes get made fun of, or looked down upon. Teased as if it's something to be ashamed of. Females playing males? No one bats an eye.
The community can be quite sexist at times.

I feel the same. I don't care to guess who someone might be irl because it won't effect how I treat them. I treat everyone with the same respect. I'll call them he if their char is male, she if their char is female, unless told they prefer to be called otherwise. It really doesn't effect me which sex a person is.

Awesome thread to read through, thanks for the posts folks

It seems its less of a problem with people then I imagined. As I said earlier in the thread, perhaps I've just had a concentration of bad experiences (or perhaps, as someone said, I should urgently seek psychoanalysis!)

    Much love,

In single-player games, I typically choose a female avatar. But in multiplayer games, I choose a male because it is an avatar of myself as I interact with others.
