I quit pretty much the day they announced it. It was an awful idea. I mean, if they said "We're raising it to level 80 and stopping there for now", that would've been fine. But now, virtually everything in the game has been simultaneously obsoleted. They've even changed the reset timer on Dynamis I heard. Awful game. Not going back.

Now, that being said...

I am strongly against the current content in FFXIV.

To be honest, my first days in FFXIV felt nothing like my first days in FFXI. There were always limitations and restrictions in FFXI that I had to deal with to advance. Gear was always expensive, gil was always tight, most of the quests and missions required assistance to do, and there were areas I couldn't go to without first getting other stuff done (like Kazham for example). There was always 'something' to do in FFXI, which is what I loved about it.

I don't think I'm in favor of anything related to this thread's subject, so feel free to critique my "lack of constructiveness" because that's all yer gettin.
sounds like you joined in 11 no where near launch, but then again so did 99.9999% of the people here

i remember 11s launch(which is more fair to compare to 14s)

not much gear to find
leveling was a pain
there wasnt any content(not like you needed it when you were trying to level still)
the content we did have was the shadowlord(that was endgame til zilart, not counting a few NMs)
gil was scarce(so was gear)

get the point?
