When is Square Enix going to start taking the state of the game seriously?

It does seem like they're expecting to wake up tommorrow and find Cloud or Lightning wrapped up like a christmas present singing "happy birthday to youuuuu..."

Seriously though, they know the stakes here, they are working hard, with neither lights nor AC, to keep the game RUNNING. They keep the forums running, and have representative sift through all the posts here, a task I do not envy. They made the game free, until they planned out what direction they want to take it. Most companies woulld be taking your money by now. They care.

I agree that they should release more information about the new systems if they have it planed out at least if they have or not, the letters with information do give me a certain ammount of hype and excitement to play for more hours than i would ussaly and im sure for others a reason to stay in touch following the games progression.Yoshi doing the right thing we'd just love even more! im sure the reason we havent is because hes being a very busy guy hopfully.

Reason everyone was disappointed with quests was because we weren't told until just before the patch that we would only be getting low rank sidequests. Up until then, given the lack of information, everyone had speculated that we would be getting main story quests and such.

This isn't true, they told us they would be side quests. and that they would be adding more and more of them as patches came, There should be more in patch 1.17 (unless the content they mentioned needing delayed was the side quests for translation reasons then they will be 1.17a). Hopefully as they get released more and more will take on appearance of some of the quests from FFXI where it starts with a long cut scene with the starting npc. Alla SOB or Shantotto.

You make no sense: what you say is obviously true, but it's also obviously human nature. If i am promised a Final Fantasy, i DO expect it to be at the very least entertaining. If i am promised a quest, i DO expect it to give me some sort of enjoyment.

Does SE think that releasing a game without aim or actually something to do in it what we expect from them? For god's sake, does Square-Enix think that a QUEST is "go kill eight dodos and come back"?

Is it my fault that i expected better? In the 8 years old FFXI the lowest level quests involved you discovering a story, talking with NPCs to see it unfold, exploring the nearby areas. Monsters were NOT the objectives, they were obstacles. You run an obstacle course to reach the finish line, not to jump the obstacles themselves. A monster should appear when you try to obtain or reach something, not be there just so you can slay it: that's what those korean mmos do and no one ever liked!

I'd like them to finish the new battle system. I think I'd have a lot of fun with this game if we could party up and gain experience points similar to the party system in XI (and actually enjoy killing monsters by planning out fights etc.) That would do for now until they could add the grand companies, raids and other quests. It would be enough to make me want to log back in for the first time since January.

Really, really looking forward to some more info this week. Screenshots. Anything. Just give me something to look forward so I don't lose the hope I've had for this game since beta.

Now I've about lost patience with this game as many others have, however we need to realize that Japan is in the process of recovering from a natural disaster of proportions most of us cannot understand. Perhaps this is one of the reasons we have not heard any information today:

Given the situation over there I think we should try to muster up some patience (it's not going to be easy, I know!!). Sure the servers are back up but can you imagine what it must be like over there right now?

I really wish people would quit with the PS3 release crap. I paid $70 for my collectors edition, they sure as hell better give me a fun game well before a PS3 release.
