Chocobo Appearance Customisation

The new content for chocobos all sounds great! I'm really looking forward to battling alongside my feathered avian companion, especially using a gambit-like system to control it. There is, however, one problem I have with the chocobos in game. From what I've seen, they all look the same!

I know we are most likely going to have different coloured chocobos, which will allow a little bit of differentiation. But what would really make our chocobos special and more personal is being able to customise their appearance, much like our own character. Being able to add length of feathers, facial features like eye and beak shape, darker or lighter tinges, even overall size and build would be amazing. With this feature added, all of our chocobos really would feel like they were our own!

I can't be the only one who has thought of this, I'm sure many people have. Seeing all those chocobos running together in that new limit break video from PAX Prime has made me realise that we need this. If, after all, chocobos are a staple of Final Fantasy and the primary mount for FFXIV: ARR, as well as a companion, then surely we should be able to personalise them much like our own character!

Just weird to me lol. The whole chocobo as a companion sounds like Star Wars the Old Republic companions. I have a feeling that each chocobo is going to have its own color like it did in FF7.

Red Choco (Caster)

White Choco (Healer).

I just hope Yoshida distinguishes the companion chocos vs the choco mounts already in game. I rather have a little fat chocobo at my side then the one that looks like my mount. Meh.

They wouldn't implement colours depending on what type of Chocobo you have, that would just throw off the fans. What if people just want the traditional yellow/golden Chocobos? It has to be the players choice to have it the colour they want it, no matter what type it is, if they decide to make the colour option available to us.

Yeah good call. I mean, what if people want a rainbow chocobo?
