They answered this in one of the live letters. Yoshi said that it was technically difficult to do, but would look into it. It was never very likely to happen, but it isn't exactly ruled out, either.

I can't pull my WHM hoodie over a sugarloaf hat. Just minimize the insane clipping. WARs and others with similar helms should be able to drop the faceguard though.

You counted? lmao wow... Regardless, although in the world that you exist in this mornings video may be the only one, I assure you it isn't. They jump so much in these damn gameplay showings that I actually had a dream about jumping in ffxiv... If they jumped 7 times in a 2:46 video that's once every 28 seconds, that's a lot of jumping and still 0 hoods up or masks down.
