Nope.

The most legendary though, goes to this one.

I remember kilita vividly. He used to say his dad worked for Sony and had "insider" knowledge and all sorts of ridiculous junk. It was pretty funny most of the time.

I liked belgianrofl a lot but people took him WAY too seriously. It's too bad there's a lot of stuck up users with very little sense of humor.

Lol, this game has no legendary players...not enough exclusive content. Once you get pvp and stuff, and harder dungeons/bosses, you might start seeing a few names pop up. But in games like this one, guilds become legendary before players do. Occasionally one guild may have an insanely cannot-do-the-stuff-this-guy-does-unstoppable-one-man-wrecking-crew player, but you wont see one for quite a long time. The problem is that most content is curved towards a casual base so there's very very little everyone can't accomplish. These days the only way to get legend status is to rule pvp.

Heretic and Suirieko excellently spoke the only name I wanted to mention in this thread... Avesta.

Like was said, the true measure of "legendary" actually has nothing to do with obtaining rare gear... But rather:

A legendary player is someone who does unbelievable chit under unbelievable circumstances. it doesn't necessarily have to be the best geared player either

Its for this reason that five or six years later, everyone who played FFXI still talks about Avesta... heck, there was even the rumored legend surrounding the "Avesta Bangles" accessory (added a couple years back?) which suggested that SE named them after him. Naturally, this was just people drawing conclusions and fueling his accomplishments... but still, the guy was extremely skilled.

There are a few people in XI that I considered legendary. Not from what they wore or what group they were in but simply from the skill they had in using their class to get the task completed. Gear doesn't mean shit if you can't use it.
