Very limited content at ARR launch :( ?

JPGames-Frederick: There was much talk about planned content for Final Fantasy XIV 2.0, which content will be there right from the start and which will be implemented later? I’m talking about content such as PvP, Crystal Tower, free companies, free companies housing, chocobo breeding system etc.


Yoshida: About the Crystal Tower and the chocobo-racing and the free companies, we cannot have this right at the launch, about PvP … we hope to have it at launch but because of all the balancing issues and with me being a hardcore PvP-player we want to make it perfect before releasing. We might have to keep adjusting and because of that we might not make it in time but if that is the case we hope to have it at the latest within a few months after launch and hopefully at the launch. The same thing goes for the housing system, but we hope to have that very soon after launch as well.



So the most exciting ARR content/features like Crystal tower, chocobo raising (the article says racing? error?) and free companies (NO GUILDS ???! ) will not be avaible at launch.
PvP in doubt too, and housing they hope a bit after...

At this point i suppose they're behind the schedule.. I would prefer to release it perfect some months after with a lot of beta testing (so not only to give them more time for content, but to resolve every bug or technical issue) , than release once again, an incomplete game.

And this will have a big impact on launch reviews. Think about this SE.

Idk, I'm still impressed that they remade the ENTIRE GAME. If a few features aren't quite ready... I think that's more than ok.

Most of this stuff has never been planned for "at launch." Devs have been saying that a lot of things they want to do will be after 2.0 launch.

I can see your concern, but to be honest there will be plenty of content to keep everyone occupied for at least a few months until these things come out:
A whole new redesigned world to explore, overhaul to crafting/gathering, new combat classes to level as well as new missions and quests to do. You'll also be able to change starting city and GC if I recall from a previous interview so there's that to experience as well.

Converting current (1.0) content to 2.0 (ARR) means there's going to be plenty of content to do especially for a new player to this game (which is their focus) -- it may not be the exact same as now but the content bases we have now will exist, we just won't be getting the Crystal Tower at the start which quite frankly would only have been content for people who are done with everything now, but there's a much bigger base of people they want to attract and keep and in order to do so they need to focus on the low and mid level content distribution above all.

That's concerning. It's half the reason TOR tanked so badly. I hope there's at least the dungeons from 1.0. (and the primals etc)

It will annoy us, but the reviews will be left intact.

Of course having the current content converted and revamped (i hope) is a good starting base.
But it's sad that none of the ARR exclusive feature will be avaible.

I think the UI and Network is the most important above all else, Content just comes naturally with time, but without a Stable UI or Network to run them.. then game has no chance of Succeeding even with the best content in the world.

100% agree performance and standards forward everything else. (i'm still hoping for regional server, of course along with internationals). I hope at least in pvp (Yoshi is putting all himself in pvp :P )

I thought people always knew this? It's stated in the PDF files that all that content was planned for after ARR's launch. If they take out PvP at launch they are actually ahead of schedule. Under "New Content"

Honestly, I'd rather just delay it till the start of a new game season so I can finish all the 1.0 crap, but they've put it off long enough. 2 years is already pushing it for a potential audience.
