Oh god, yoshi's actually playing with the german client.
And it looks like they copied the World of Warcraft battle system 1:1.

I really don't see it. It looks exactly like 1.X's battle system except you can backpedal because it functions like our current lock-on while in battle. Likely an option you can turn off.

You know what... I think.. I think I know what's going on here. When people say stuff "copies World of Warcraft". The franchise reaches a point in popularity where a good chunk of the community thinks of it as THE standard.
Say for example if I were to release a fighting game, with projectiles, combo system, ultra combos and all the bells and whistles, with a colorful character roster. People would say, Oh, that's just a copy of Street Fighter.
But anyone that has played say... Skull Girls, Blazblue, Guilty Gear.. basically ANY 2D FIGHTER EVER, would know these are NOT copies of Street Fighter. And most people don't even say that anyway.
So why is it that every game that uses standard MMO features, that weren't even invented by WoW, compares an mmo to WoW? It's mind boggling really. I'm not bashing anyone in particular, I'm just trying to talk myself through/understand this phenomenon.
Things can be similar, but not be a copy. It might TASTE like chicken, but it could be alligator.

I don't think you know what i was talking about. I played World of Warcraft for about 4 years with a few breaks in it. 2.0 is going to use the exact same battle mechanics/player movement like World of Warcraft.ULTIMATE FACEPALM/HEAD DESK

Btw, i was using WoW as an example because everybody knows it and played it at least once.
NO. I don't think you know what I'm talking about. (Also, I'm not angry at you or anything just the whole crux of this thing)I don't think you know what i was talking about. COMMUNITY. A few questions.
1) What is a WoW clone? Please explain.
2) Would you consider Sonic the Hedgehog to be a Super Mario Brothers clone/copy?
3) Would you consider Lumines to be a Tetris clone/copy?
4) What specifically differentiates games within the same genre?

No...it's not, unless you squint extremely hard. Unless you're going to be using abilities on the GCD with a relatively consistent rotation (especially with a subelement of building/spending secondary resources to boost abilities' effects), this is not "a carbon copy of the WoW battle system".
The movement system looks like it will feel just like WoW, yes. And that change is a very good one, IMHO. I believe that the fluidity in movement and controls is one of the things that WoW does best.
So you're saying that the ability to backpedal means that it's exactly 100% like WoW? Lol.I don't think you know what i was talking about.
